Fruit chips - another double

Peaches.
The peaches were very ripe and soft

Dried fruit chips

Apricots.
I bought apricots very large and ripe for jam. Some of them were rejected, crushed on the road, and some were specially bought for very soft ones (cheaper in price).
I just cut it with a knife, because the vegetable cutter simply does not take such soft.
But the taste of these chips turned out to be much tastier than from hard apricots.
Drying time 12-14 hours - dry very well, it is better to dry on a mesh, then it is easier to remove.

Dried fruit chips

Raspberries and strawberries.
Again - substandard. I bought raspberries and strawberries for laying in the freezer - I put technical defects on chips, cut them with a knife.

Fruit mix - this is all together.

Awesome! They look so delicious! Another would be to get a dryer ...Admin, and the chips are crispy or dried? Or does it depend on the drying time?
Admin

Thank you

The chips are different. It depends on the fruit, cut, drying time, etc.

Pay attention to the photo of the apricot. She cut slices no more than 5 mm thick, the apricots were so ripe that they barely kept their shape and were very soft. Cut only with a knife.
And what came of them! Even some of them were very dry, and some remained dry, but plastic.
Well, the disease is buying very ripe and large apricots from me - memories from childhood overlapped

Also, strawberry chips - I laid very ripe strawberries, flowed down my hands, and crispy thin plates turned out.

I think this is because there is more sugar in apricots (than in strawberries, for example), and they are more plastic and sticky.

No, they won't crunch like potato chips

They look so appetizing

Crochet, they are also "appetizing" and disappear from the table
Sour taste - and you want to constantly chew.

Like croutons with cheese and spices - don't last long

Admin, and you pre-processed fruits before drying, that they turned out so light?
Admin

Only wash it with water and dry it with a towel, or the water itself flows down (like from strawberries, for example). Mine very quickly to keep the fruit dry.

In the photo, the color of the chips is very close to the original. But still, when drying, there are fruits that themselves darken from drying - this is also visible in the photo, especially peaches.

I no longer dabble in such blanks

Tasty, there is no strength to endure - but it is eaten in a moment - it is not profitable to make winter preparations, they do not live up to winter

What is nice is that such chips can be made from substandard, soft, broken and other fruit defects.

Tell us where and how and what to store ready-made fruit chips until winter?

Tell us where and how and what to store ready-made fruit chips until winter?

Unfortunately, chips are very poorly stored not only until winter, but also until autumn.

You need a lot of fruit, the output is small, and they eat chips at home faster than they dry

You can dry it in regular cloth or paper bags to make the material breathe. And the main thing is that the chips are well dried, then there will be no moisture and mold.

I store in such containers. Everything is fine until the next harvest, if it is not eaten before

Strawberries, of course, not, but until January there are enough for sure, I hide so that I myself cannot find it

Tatyana, tell me, please, is it possible to crunch fruit chips? My children are hooked on store-bought fruit chips (well, at least not a chemical filth, like potato chips), they are just sad. Everything would be fine, but their price is not at all democratic: 60r for a tiny pack of 50g. The husband offered to buy an electric dryer. But before buying a new unit for the kitchen, which is already jammed with appliances, there is nowhere to go (I confess - I am a deviceaholic), I would like to know the exciting moments

Tanya, and how thick did you cut the apricots?

Admin

Inna, I cut into halves without pits - and cut each berner grater into thick slices. It's better this way, while it dries, some thin plates remain
Crochet
Yeah, that's about 5 mm. ...

I will cut it with a knife), soft because ...

And thanks for the quick answer, Tanechka !!!

Tanya, do you change the trays during drying?

Have you tried drying apricots in halves?

It is clear that the halves will dry longer, the question is how much longer)?

Good evening everyone!
I started using Isidri quite recently, a year ago. I bought it thanks to this forum)). Basically I dry just fruit chips, in the photo persimmon (it tastes like dates), pear, kiwi. Dried fruit chips
I also dried apples, cream tomatoes, bell peppers, melons and even watermelon. A jamb came out with a melon, as if after six months of storage in an airtight bag, it oxidized. There will definitely be no more experiments with watermelon, there is too much hassle, and at the exit the taste of watermelon is almost not felt, and the thin plates stick together during storage, even if they are sprinkled with breading (the taste of bread is also added)). Now it seems to me that it is better to store the drying in a container that will "breathe". I still didn’t like the drying of the Forest Beauty pear, which doesn’t taste very good in its raw form, but it also softens a lot in drying. And oranges with tangerines without peel, cut into slices, too, to put it mildly, were not impressed.
I want to say that all fruits, which initially have a good rich taste, have completely preserved in dried form. I eat them like candy. I am happy to operate the dryer, and all thanks to all of you who shared your experience and recipes, thank you very much!

Christina, I have been storing fruit chips in plastic and glass jars with a tight lid for several years already, and there are no comments. Everything is stored perfectly until the new season. It seems to me that the whole point is to what condition to dry. I dry until the moisture completely disappears. Cherries and peaches, due to their sweetness, also stick together during long storage, but if you shake the jar, then the chips are remarkably separated from each other.

Svetlana, I store almost all fruit chips in general in simple bags, not even paper ones, everything was fine too. I even dry out the chips, it seems to me, because they break. Pear and melon, which I wrote about above, probably dried for 12 hours (melon even longer), because they were sticky for a long time. Immediately after drying, they were brittle, the pear softened only later. I decided to try vacuum packaging, all the other fruits are in order, and with the melon, the embarrassment is the smell and light taste (at the beginning) of dried fish. In general, I am no longer a walker in that direction, I spent a lot of money then, but zero sense))

Tatyana, thank you very much for the delicious recipe!
