Pumpkin - millet porridge with pumpkin (Panasonic SR-TMH 18)

Ingredients

pumpkin 300 grams (I prefer red pumpkin to taste)
millet 1 measuring cup
fresh milk 3 measuring cups
salt, sugar taste
ghee for roasting pumpkin

Cooking method

  • Cut the pumpkin into 1 x 1 cm pieces and fry in ghee in a frying pan, sprinkle with a little sand, but not until cooked. It would be nice over high heat until golden brown, but inside so that it is still raw.
  • Put the fried pumpkin together with the oil on which it was fried in a multicooker pan, add washed and scalded millet, add milk (and if there is a lot of thick foam on homemade milk, then it is super!), Salt, sugar to taste. Close the lid and cook in milk porridge mode.
  • You don't need to add butter, although you won't spoil the porridge with butter.

Note

Porridge is super !!!! Stir-fried pumpkin in ghee with sugar does not give such a raw pumpkin flavor as usual, for which, in principle, many do not like pumpkin.

By this principle, you can cook PUMPKIN with rice.

Try it - it's worth it!

and if you fry a pumpkin in a slow cooker? reluctance to wash the pan

Maybe you can, I haven't tried it. It seems to me that the result of frying is important, pumpkin should not have a raw taste, which is inherent in porridge. I don't like that. And when frying, it is saturated with ghee, and has a golden brown crust, the taste is completely different. Overcooking inside, I also do not advise.

IMHO, it is quite possible.
First put in the mode Bakery products 15 minutes, then Romomin recipe.

I made rice porridge with pumpkin in a slow cooker. When frying in oil in a slow cooker in baking mode, unfortunately, the pumpkin did not have a golden brown crust - it quickly softened and turned into almost mashed potatoes. But the finished porridge was stunningly beautiful - the whole pumpkin was flat on top, as if it had been spread with apricot jam.

Added orange marmalade, dried cherries and vanillin. I added dry rice when ready pumpkin and also fried it. Then she poured it in milk and switched it to the milk porridge mode - the rice was a little undercooked, added a little water and brought it to readiness in the "pilaf" mode.

It turned out like rice pudding (very similar on Sunday Yulia Vysotskaya demonstrated in the program "Let's eat at home") with pumpkin.
The bottom was baked like a cake, and slightly browned - cut with a spatula and laid out in triangular slices

Pumpkin pumpkin fried in ghee. At the same time, a specific raw taste leaves the pumpkin, which is why many do not like porridge with pumpkin.

By the way, in those countries where pumpkin is considered an "exotic" vegetable, pumpkin can be replaced with papaya, the taste is not at all different from real pumpkin. Tested personally Cooking the same way as pumpkin, frying in ghee.

Below I give a photo of Pumpkin with papaya

Hello! I am a recent "multicooker" and therefore there is a question about milk porridge ... I tried to cook it several times and all the time I get porridge with curdled milk ...curdled .. ... The milk was fresh, it was 100%, unboiled ... I made both buckwheat and pumpkin ... in the mode of milk porridge .. and everything did not work out))): I can't even imagine what it would have turned out if I put on the timer in the evening)): And it would be so convenient for me ... Budud is very, very grateful for the answer.

"The milk was fresh, it was 100%, unboiled ..."

How do you know the milk was fresh? How did you test it?
You can only check by boiling.

Milk could also be deliberately poorly prepared, with preservatives and other tricks, milk that cannot be boiled, etc.
There can be many reasons. I have had cases when you boil milk, and it becomes grains, this is powdered milk.

"I made both buckwheat and pumpkin ... in milk porridge mode .. and it didn't work out"

So the reason is not the freshness of the milk, but its quality. And check how clean the pan you had, maybe there are some particles from washing or previous cooking, which could have the effect of milk curdling.

Before cooking porridge, make a test - boil 1/4 cup of milk, or even 1 tbsp is enough. l. hold over the fire. If milk is of poor quality, it will immediately let you know.

The forum recommends putting frozen milk in the pan if you put the porridge on the timer. But it must also be of high quality, for which you need to make a test for boiling it.

Hello girls !!!! Take me into your ranks of multicooker ......... At least since August 3, among the multicooker, I basically cook everything, don't post pictures, a little later ... but I managed to do a lot of useful things, today I put this Pumpkin, I can tell right away ... well, it turned out to be a very tasty porridge
AdminThank you very much for the recipe, we never cooked with millet, I love this porridge with rice, it always turned out delicious, but here is such an innovation. I can say ... you can't pull it off by the ears. But still I will try my porridge with rice, also fry in oil and then put on the program. I first stewed the pumpkin, and then poured rice, then poured milk, salt and sugar to taste, butter at the end, always delicious
By the way, my milk was rustic
Admin

Svetik_, bon appetit - with rice, it also turns out deliciously only for the pumpkin to be fried and preferably in butter or ghee

LaraN , this is VERY TASTY, even small children crack with pleasure

Cook - you won't regret it

Admin I did everything as it was written ... and the pumpkin was fried so cool, but not fried, in the millet it just feels like this husk ... I just can't remove it, because it is just as disgustingly small as millet (just kidding), but the taste is great.

Polished millet is subdivided into the following grades: superior, first, second and third. According to GOST 572-60, the largest amount of impurities contains third-grade millet. Weed impurities no more than 0.7%, and unhulled grains no more than 1%. More details here 🔗
Svetik_, I have seen such a grain that contains impurities in much larger quantities. It is produced according to some technical specification. The main thing is that the taste of the pumpkin is to your liking, now it's up to you to find pure millet.
Svetik_
kolynusha in .... definitely not shuffled grains ..... they are very often found, well, I choose only millet in the market, but still it comes across with this husk ..... you at least understood me correctly what I wanted to write .. .. You look closely and see ...
kolynusha
Svetik_Unfortunately, it often happens that a supermarket and a hypermarket are not a guarantee of quality. Here I just bought pure millet in Magnit (a chain of thrifty stores, I don't know if you have one). Ask more in your territorial topic. Just do not give up, and you will definitely find something clean. And you will have both pumpkin and Kulesh. And we will keep our fists for you.

Admin, strange, all my life I thought that I love pumpkin (I don't like this word!) harmelon () porridge with rice. Who would have thought that, it turns out, I have loved with millet all my life, I just did not know about it!
And preliminary frying of the harmelon gives the porridge a kind of caramel flavor!
Thank you!

:) I'm going to cook pumpkin with millet in milk tomorrow morning! I decided to pour cold salt on the timer, and if I fry the pumpkin, the milk will become warm, it will not turn sour until morning))) I will put the timer at ten o'clock in the evening so that the porridge is ready at 7 am ?!
mish
Very out of place recipe! Just stocked up with pumpkins for the winter - 6 pieces. My husband said that if they eat with appetite, then next year we will stock up on more. I will try!
DJ
Delicious porridge turned out. I put it overnight, after frying the pumpkin in the evening. Everything worked out, I really wanted it to be a little thinner, next time I'll try to add a little more milk.
Admin can I do a double portion at a time? boil?
Crochet
DJ
I always do exactly a double portion, the result is! My family loves pumpkin!Admin, thanks again !
DJ
Crochet Thank you! I'll try it today.
And if you cook with rice, are the proportions the same?
Crochet
DJ
I tried rice + millet, the proportions were left the same, that is, for 2 cups of cereal, 6 liquid (this is for a double portion). Excellent porridge came out!

Hello everyone! Indeed, I cooked millet with pumpkin and then tasted rice with pumpkin and added some more raisins! In the morning just enjoyed the breakfast! Previously, I did not like thick porridge, but with fried pumpkin, this is something! One of my favorite cereals! True, sometimes it's just too lazy to fry a pumpkin in the evening, but today I will definitely cook it in the morning))) I'll put it on the timer in the evening to enjoy such a cool breakfast!
I would like to especially thank Admin for the recipes and for the attention paid to site visitors!
DJ
Well, she just boasted that I got it, came home from work today, and put this porridge on, as the signal squeaked, I got it out, but it was as if it hadn't been cooked. Who ate it like that, hungry, and I put it on the heating so that it could reach.
Is it just my porridge not ready right away?
Admin

How many were you pawning, for how many people?

If there is a large amount, then it is better to do it in the Stew mode, and adjust the cooking time yourself.

A small amount is good in Milk Porridge mode.
sweetka
double norm of the recipe, yes, in the milk mode it turns out to be undercooked, I had to cook on buckwheat today. and the harmelon was so sweet that I ate some raw without anything!

Yesterday at a friend's house I tried a pumpkin with raisins, vanilla sugar and eggs beaten with sugar. Air porridge! For me, of course, sweetish, but still very tasty

400 gr. pumpkin
1.5 cartoon glasses of millet
4 cartoon glasses of milk
A pinch of salt
100 g Raisins
2 bags (16g) vanilla sugar
3 eggs
3 heaping tablespoons of sugar

Cut the pumpkin into cubes. Put 2-3 tablespoons of plums in the cartoon. oils. On the program, baking for 20 minutes (I stir it a couple of times so that individual pieces are not too fried). Then add washed millet, raisins, add milk and salt a little. Milk porridge program. Beat eggs with sugar with a mixer (do not forget about vanilla). After 20 minutes from the beginning of the program, open the lid (without fear of knocking down the program) and gently pour in the egg mixture, while stirring the porridge just as gently but thoroughly. Close the lid and cook for another half hour. Add butter to taste (I put 150 grams so). Let it stand for 15-20 minutes.

A bit confused with programs, but tasty.

Here I cooked a lean version, without milk ...

Instead of milk - water .... I always cook porridge in fasting, then you can pour hot milk for the children, and pour yourself or some dry vegetable cream for yourself. To be honest, the lean version is in no way inferior to the "dairy"

Pumpkin - millet porridge with pumpkin (Panasonic SR-TMH 18) Admin, thanks great for a delicious porridge recipe. I eat all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Today I have a pumpkin-millet diet. The idea of roasting pumpkin is wonderful, the taste of porridge is rich. I did everything according to the recipe, I added 1 tbsp of water to only 3 glasses of milk.
nakapustina
Admin and take thanks from me for the porridge. True, I didn't have millet, I took 1 cartoon glass of rolled oats, half a glass of rice and corn flour, 1 liter of milk. I still fried the pumpkin for 20 minutes in a cartoon. When the program "milk porridge" ended, for some reason the porridge seemed thin, I added a spoonful of semolina, then beat 1 egg (there was no more. I’m such a good-looking hostess) with a pinch of salt and vanilla sugar and put it on the "milk porridge" mode again ...
Yummy, eat your mind. Thank you for the recipe and Nat_ka for the idea to add an egg beaten with sugar to the porridge.

What are you doing?! I am a pearl barley soul. And Katka put her unforgettable on her. You cook it in broth according to all the rules - fly away. There will be unsweetened pumpkin, but such a second. Garnish, I mean.
Oh, just don't beat for the barley match, if it's out of place ...

Admin, thanks for the pumpkin porridge !! !
I used to cook this kind of porridge in the oven, but now Brand cooks it for breakfast. I fried the pumpkin in MV, let it cool down (so that the milk does not turn sour, since I cook porridge with stitching for the morning) and put the prepared millet, sugar, salt. We do not like thick cereals, so I pour liquids 1: 4

And tell me, please, the cooking time in the "milk porridge" mode. And then I have a multi budget option, there is only a "porridge" mode and the time is set from 20 minutes. How much to cook porridge so that it is ready?
I cook ordinary dairy products for 30 minutes, is that enough?

Thank you for the recipe - for the first time in many years I ate millet groats, I hated it since kindergarten, and then I took the Experiments further, cooked it with a mixture of milk and pumpkin juice, added apples, frozen cherries and quince. Each of the options had a cinnamon stick, I love its aroma. Fried in vegetable oil, without sugar. Sometimes I watered the finished one with thick yogurt - sour milk gives such tenderness ... Sometimes honey came with yogurt for sweetness, but actually I have enough sweetness from pumpkin and dried apricots (oh, yes, I also always added dried apricots) In general, I have this recipe in the last days in the favorites, as you yourself understand

So I was thinking about how to make this masterpiece with a cartoon assistant. Today there was porridge according to your recipe in my Field. Mmmm !!! What a mess! I cooked it on Milk porridge for 15 minutes and then kept it on heating for 15 minutes. Yes! double dose! That is, 2 MCT of millet and 6 MCT of milk. fresh from the cow! Everything is super !!!
