Watermelon jam with orange

Watermelon jam with orange

Ingredients

Watermelon pulp
Oranges 3 pcs.
Sugar 1 kg

Cooking method

  • 1. Half a 6 kg watermelon was taken, peeled and seeds removed, the pulp was cut into cubes. oranges are also cut into cubes together with the peel and covered with sugar.
  • 2. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Cool down.
  • And so 3-4 times.
  • 3. Roll up in jars or eat.
  • Watermelon jam with orange

Note

P.S. In my opinion, there can be less sugar and not 3 oranges, but 2.
Not big clarifications, oranges are medium, a 6 kg watermelon was halved, one half went to jam, and the other was eaten.

Good evening! Help is needed!! I make zucchini jam with lemon and orange. The problem is that some orange peels remain very tough. Found a recipe on the internet.
FOR 2 kg of zucchini 2 kg of sugar, 2 orange peel and 2 lemons with peel. I read that there is also an orange in your recipe. What could be my problem? This is the first time I make such a jam, I really wanted to get a good result. I'm terribly upset ... What to do ?!

This jam was made for the first time, for the sample it turned out to be about 3 half liter jars, the orange peels seem to be normal, and about hard crusts I can only assume that if the peel is large, then the crusts should be soft after cooking, although this is my guess, because we they also made marrow jam, but only with lemons, and sometimes hard crusts were also encountered. Try it with oranges with a large peel and lemons with a large peel, if the problem disappears, then we are on the right track. And if not, it means something else. Experiment, do not be afraid, because they gave this jam to try at work, and about the proportions, the employee said what she was doing by eye, and I liked the jam and decided to do it like it worked

Can you please tell me how many hours the cooling period lasts and can you cool it in a quick way by placing the container in cold water?

: hi: Sorry for the long silence, I think you can do it in a quick way, we just usually make jam like this, in the morning they cooked it then in the evening, the next day they repeated the procedure.

Thanks for the answer.

I cooked the jam in the second way, with complete cooling. I took less sugar (but it's still cloying for mine), I also added vanilla and cinnamon. Tasty, but for some reason liquid, it seemed to me in the photo that it was jelly-like.

: hi: I don't even remember how it turned out in consistency, but I can assume that it may depend on the watermelon, there are more juicy, and also on the amount of sugar, the more sugar, the more viscous the jam will be, also oranges have a gelling effect. That's how, then I contradict myself, after all, I wrote that less sugar and oranges are needed, well, this is in terms of taste, but in appearance it turns out that no ... Here's a story

Tell me, are there any members of the forum who constantly cook jam from watermelon peels year after year? What are the incentives to cook it? And how is it different from fruit or berry jam? I cooked it once, pleasing my curiosity. Maybe I don't understand something?

: hi: I myself have never cooked or tried jam from watermelon peels, so I can’t say something about this. But I found a reference, maybe someone there will answer you something.
