How to dry strawberries? After washing, wait until the berries are dry, or can you immediately put them in the dryer and start drying? If the strawberries are sour, can you sprinkle them with sugar before drying? And how much time to dry?
Basja
darmoed,
I haven't dried the berries yet, I read about strawberries on the website that they are like dried chips. As for washing, then of course it is necessary, the only thing, I think, is to drain the water, and then put it in the dryer. I mean that the fan is running in the dryer and therefore the sugar will scatter. If you need to sugar, why not do it after drying. Boom to experiment. Remained wait for the strawberries. And it also seems to me that the berries should be taken not very large.
Qween
darmoed , I dry strawberries even with whole berries. I tear off the tails of dry, strong strawberries, and put the berries (pointed end up) on the dryer net. Then I dry. An excellent strawberry.

Or you can cut the berries into plates and dry them.

I don’t sprinkle sugar, and it’s very tasty.
Admin
The strawberry season is now starting.

Strawberry chips can be made without spending a good strawberry (expensive). But for chips, substandard and wrinkled and slightly damaged berries are suitable.
Cut the berries into strips and place them on the trays of the dryer - get a tasty treat

If you make chips from different fruits and berries in this way in the summer, then in winter you will be provided with delicious porridge, tea, etc. ... if by that time you just don't eat everything

I have already passed it - this is an unprofitable business - it is eaten instantly

Admin, how long do you dry strawberry chips? And are there any criteria for the readiness of the dried product?

Oh, I don't remember the time now. I dry not on time, but on readiness.
Berry-fruit chips should be dry and plastic, and it all depends on the fruit itself. Sometimes they dry out completely dry, and sometimes they become oily. There should be no water (moisture) in them.

Hello everyone. I bought a vinis vfd-400 dryer, tried to dry strawberries in it, did not fill 3 trays too much, after cutting it into halves. Set the temperature to 50 degrees. As a result, I am in despair ... my strawberries started like they are boiled and smell like sour. And I am very upset that the holes in the trays of this drying are large, blueberries and currants cannot be dried. And of course this drying is healthy.
Maybe someone has one, write pliz if she has at least some advantages. And then I'm already thinking about selling it. What am I doing wrong? By the way, does it have to turn itself off periodically?
AlKA
Alla7, I don't know your dryer, but as I understand it. that you cut it wrong. It is necessary to cut not in halves, but in flat slices, chips. In my dryer, I set the pace to 55 degrees. The result is in the photo. Everything is always OK. Try it and don't be discouraged. Dried strawberries are delicious and eaten faster than any other fruit. Good luck

Dried strawberries - how to do?

Thank you very much for the advice, today I bought more strawberries, I have already cut them thinly, now they are drying, I'll see how it goes. Is it normal that it periodically turns off and then turns on? She can 3 min. work then 2 minutes. rest and so on the whole cycle.

Has anyone tried to cut strawberries on a Neiser-Diser and dry them. I have a desire to prepare more of this product for tea and porridge, so I would like to simplify the cutting process.

Natusichka, congratulations! The strawberry chips are yours! How long did they dry for you? And did they not stick to the trays?
Mine are still drying, it's already 11 o'clock, but a little stuck, now I'm going to take pictures.

What a great idea - strawberry chips! Thank you, Tanya!
Recently I learned that strawberries are good for the elasticity of our blood vessels, and in combination with oatmeal - just a super-medicine for blood vessels.

Nelya, It so happened for me that I dried it intermittently (I went to work, then I was afraid to leave it overnight, so as not to dry out). In total, dried for about 12 hours. Of course, they stuck ..., but after complete cooling, they were removed normally, slightly pried (with a knife or fingernail) and removed. I loaded 8 trays.

Admin! I am a staunch Marxist! Last year I dried it, put it in glass. jars, closed them with vacuum lids and hid them on a shelf (behind cereals) on the balcony, took them out in small batches and put them in a bowl. Therefore, they ate dosed! So I have it strictly !!!! I laid it out one by one: then strawberries, then melon, then quince, then apples. Everyone was satisfied. So, mind you, I dried it on Bomman .... And now I am so happy that I got Isidri that I am nervous if it is idle. The next strawberries should be brought only tomorrow evening, and I go and freak out that today it does not work ...

Well, if there are berries, but cheap ... then you can dry them in tons. You can't run away with us, the price bites hard
Natusichka
Tanya, now you can buy strawberries from 14 to 20 UAH per kg. There is a lot of it this year, so the price is normal. That's why I dry and freeze .... I love her so much !!!

Girls, what hardness do you get, soft or crunchy?

To what state you dry, this will be. It is possible with a crunch, like potato chips It depends on time.
Strawberries can be dried in different ways: chips or dried with sugar, or you can make marshmallows
* Maruska *
so this is understandable, but in order not to spoil it is necessary to bring to some kind of a certain condition, it will be a pity later if some kind of molar gets started or gets moldy.

I just saw the question! It may no longer be relevant, but suddenly someone else will come in handy. On Nyser +, I couldn't cut strawberries. The upper mesh cleaves it. But very quickly and conveniently I cut 3 kg of strawberries into chips with an egg cutter. I have a simple Krauff.

Girls, hello! Thank you very much for such a wonderful Temko! I read it, licked my lips yesterday, bought a dryer * Veterok 2 * and made strawberry chips overnight.Immediately a question to those who have already done this not for the first time: is it necessary to lubricate the gratings with something? How hard it was torn off!

For this we use nets, they are plastic and the berries are well separated from them. Read here https://Mcooker-enn.tomathouse.com/index.php@option=com_smf&topic=146043.0

Girls, hello!
I am drying the second batch of strawberries, but I still don’t understand whether it is completely dry or not ...
She cut thinly, the plates are dry to the touch, but plastic, do not crunch, do not break ... She kept it for about 12 hours with a break for the night. I'm only worried about not getting moldy during storage. (I read both pages, followed the links, I'm stupid anyway!)
Drying I have ZELMER, simple, two modes 150W and 300W, dry on the second, and again I do not understand if it differs from the first? The sound does not seem to be, the buzz does not intensify, maybe I'm bothering in vain?

Natasha, for the first time with me, a strawberry, so to speak, walked around. I cut myself normally, but there was a lot of juice. And dried without a grid, that's when it stuck great!

I cut the medium-sized strawberries in half lengthwise and laid them out with a cut up, then it sticks less

Maybe my experience will come in handy. I have a VINIS dryer. The diameter of the trays is 31 cm. I bought 40 cm of white tulle (the price on the market is 20 gr. Linear meter, width is 3 meters), cut out circles to the diameter of tulle (first squares, and then circles). First, I set it to 70 degrees, check that the tulle does not melt and that there is no smell. I cut large strawberries by hand in front of the TV. Of course a little stuck, but in principle you can remove from tulle. The optimal slices were 3-4 mm thick. Of the 5 circles of tulle, one broke slightly during the removal. No photo. But the dryer was all beautiful - through each tray the tulle bristled glamorously! In the process of removing, I came to two conclusions: I played enough with strawberries, it is better to make frozen mashed potatoes and I will use tulle circles as additional inter-holders (put apple slices on trays, then tulle, then the next tray). Something like this.
P.S. I looked through the topic after it was written and in the photo - strawberries in the dryer lie on tulle. So the thoughts went right.

My neighbor planted a Marshal strawberry, when I saw what size it was, right there, by hook or by crook, I scooped out 20kg to try to dry it, it's just super, in the fall I will plant such a variety for myself. She cut it with a ceramic knife.

But I, for some reason, from 1250 fresh turned out to be 450 g dry. A bit too much somehow. Maybe a meaty strawberry was caught.

I didn't time the time, but if with chips, then quickly
And just in general, it stopped drying, it is eaten in an instant, faster than it dries, and if there is no garden of its own, then it is completely impractical.

I was drying according to the Isidri principle (blowing each tray), power 500 W, dried for 8 hours, but it was rainy, so I think I could dry faster. Cut with plates.
