Antonovka with pepper in syrup

Ingredients

Apples
Sweet bell pepper
Sugar
Water

Cooking method

  • Apples (namely Antonovka) and sweet bell peppers (50-50%) are cut into slices (seeds are separated). I blanch for 20-30 seconds in boiling water, put them in jars, pour 40% sugar syrup and roll up.

Note

The recipe from my mother-in-law ...

If the preparation is done in August, then by November you will get a great snack on the table. Apples will taste like pepper and pepper will taste like apples ...

I found this recipe somewhere on the Internet. Deals last year. Opened in winter - a very unusual taste. The family members praised me and the product, but no one began to finish it. I probably should have made them eat it more often, but it turned out to be an amateur. As a result, out of 6 half liter cans, 5 remained. It's a pity. Still delicious.

I also decided to try it. At 40% syrup I look ooooooochen skeptical, but ... you never know ... Only Antonovka crawled after blanching. To say that I had it from a tree ... to put it mildly, not very ...

Hairpin, I think I understand why your Antonovka has collapsed. Today I twirled myself 3 jars of apples with pepper (though I have not syrup, but a sweet marinade ..) and in my haste the apples could not stand the due time in a solution of soda, they almost all fell apart

Try not to blanch the apples at all. They are perfectly preserved in the marinade raw and while they are well saturated with syrup and marinade, they remain whole and tasty.

Opened. Have tried it. The husband is in admiration, but calls this creativity a compote.
And for me - hefty sweet. I wonder if you can duplicate not with 40%, but ... well, 20% syrup?
That's how interesting it turns out, my husband really liked it, but I didn't ...

I think 20% is a good snack option, it is in this concentration that I make pickled berries and apples, it turns out to be sweet, but far from compote.
