Fish fritters from cod

Ingredients

Boiled cod 300 g
flour 200 g
Light beer 150 ml
water 50 ml
Olive (vegetable) oil 1 tbsp. l. + d / frying
Onions (very finely chopped) 1 tbsp. l.
Parsley (cilantro) 1 tbsp. l.
Egg 1 PC.
Salt, pepper, nutmeg

Cooking method

  • Delicious truly Portuguese pancakes. Here in Portugal, cod is considered the most delicious fish. And on the table of every Portuguese he takes the honorable first place! They have thousands of dishes from this fish.
  • In a bowl, beat the egg, water and butter with a mixer. Add flour, beer and mix well so that there are no lumps, but by hand. Add onion, parsley, salt, pepper and season with nutmeg. Free the pre-boiled cod from the bones and tear into small pieces.
  • Add fish to the dough, mix well and let the dough stand for 10-15 minutes.
  • Fry in plenty of vegetable oil over medium heat. I fried on one side for 1-2 minutes, then turned over.
  • Fish fritters from cod
  • Lay on a napkin to absorb the fat.
  • Fish fritters from cod
  • My comments:
  • I can only say one thing: with a cod, all the dishes are awesomely delicious!
  • Bon Appetit!

Hello, I liked the recipe, but I don’t drink beer, can you tell me how it can be replaced? I'm waiting for the answer.
Mila007
If you don't drink beer because of its alcohol content, try with a non-alcoholic one. If for some personal reasons, then try with carbonated mineral water. Then share the result.
But still I will say that beer is very appropriate in these pancakes

My husband says that during heat treatment, the beer loses alcohol and the smell and taste remain. We often add beer to sauces.

You're right. These pancakes do not have a pronounced taste of beer, only a light aroma ...
I have not tried to replace with mineral water, but I think this is a worthy replacement. You can also try.

Mila007! What do you think, will it work without an egg? After all, now the post ... and the fish is occasionally possible.

Mila, can I get in? Without an egg, you can for sure, but to hold the pancakes together, you need to add a little semolina to the dough, or, another option (though this already changes the recipe) a small raw potato grated on a fine grater.
Just as often, instead of an egg, a little flaxseed, ground in a coffee grinder, is added to lean baked goods - but I'm not sure if it will fit here.

I also liked the recipe, it would be interesting to adapt it to the post.

Here Cubic , smart girl, already advised. Try it, and then share your experience. Maybe someone will find your experience useful. I honestly haven't tried it. But with potatoes - this is good advice! Only the dough for these pancakes should not be very thick.

Is it possible to take another fish instead of cod? Will the taste change a lot?

You can take any fish. But the taste will change, and radically. Cod has a distinct taste from other fish ... Its own .... Special ... The Portuguese make such pancakes only from cod. I tried other fish as well. Delicious ... For those who have never tasted cod - delicious ... But for me, who already tasted cod pancakes, I will say this: It tastes much better from it ..

And I did it with Pepsi. True, not pancakes, but dipped pieces of cod fillet in batter and fried.

Cool! I've never heard of this. And How? Did you taste Pepsi?
nakapustina
No, there is definitely no Pepsi taste, they turn out like a little sweetish pies with fish filling.

Mila007, and why do you need to boil cod first? Maybe cut raw, because the fish is fried quickly. Or is this point of principle in relation to cod? And thank you for the recipe!

irza, I have not tried it from raw. It seems to me that boiled is still better. Moreover, it cooks very quickly. But since the pancakes are fried quickly, the fish may not be fried until tender. And boiled cod is very easy to tear into pieces with your hands. But the raw one will have to be cut into small pieces. Tearing it into small pieces is unlikely to work.
In general, I do as the Portuguese do.

Mila007! Yesterday I made pancakes according to your recipe, only with Pepsi. It turned out delicious, in my opinion, shifted the flour, in your photo it is more airy. I took a picture, but I don’t know what to do next, so if my daughter comes for the weekend and teaches me, I’ll send a photo report. Thank you, I will do more.
