Pitta

Ingredients

Wheat flour 400 g
Water 240 ml
Salt 1 tsp
Sugar 1 tbsp. l.
Dry yeast 1 tbsp. l. (8-10 g)

Cooking method

  • Put all the ingredients in the bread maker, knead the dough (I kneaded the dumplings on the program for about 20 minutes. Then I turned off the oven and left the dough to come up for about an hour (until it doubled). The dough should be slightly softer than the dough for dumplings, it shouldn't stick to my hands. Then knead the dough and roll 6-7 balls of dough out of it, cover them with a towel and leave for 30 minutes.
  • After 30 minutes, roll each ball into a flat cake half a centimeter thick. If you make it thicker, then there will be something more like pita bread, and if the pitas are too thin, then you will not get a pocket inside. I put the rolled cakes on a towel dusted with flour and covered them with another towel. I left it for another 30 minutes.
  • Pitas practically did not rise during this time.
  • Preheat the oven with a baking sheet to 250 C. Put the cakes on a baking sheet, trying not to crush them when moving them from the proofing place. I baked two pieces for about 2 minutes. from each side. The flatbreads inflate quite a bit when baked.
  • She put the finished cakes on the wire rack and covered with a towel. After cooling, I put it in a plastic bag.
  • I got 7 pieces.
  • Pitta

Note

I was going to bake pita for a long time, today it happened.
The photos are not very good, the lighting is not very good, and the camera is old.
The pocket in the pit is poorly visible, it turned out to be very large, which I am very glad about. They filled it with all sorts of salads and ate it with fresh vegetables. Delicious!

how chubby they are, I will definitely bake them, in our family they adore pitas (only all purchased ones) and here I sculpt myself, I hope to get it

I’ll ask a stupid question, but I don’t understand - are you turning them over in the oven? Or is it me just

I got a otchetik, delicious bread turned out, only I did not turn it over because I baked in the top-bottom heat mode, thanks Paillette per recipe.

For some reason, not the most popular recipe, but for the first time I got real pita from it. Practically perfect, pockets all over the cake, the walls are thin. Fine!

Nastya, congratulations, they turned out so beautiful and delicious. Did you turn them over in the oven?
AnastasiaK
Kirks, no, did not turn it over. She was baked for about 6 minutes in total, and you're done! Delicious! And the first in my life, I'm so glad!
Thank you .

Did you get the Anise recipe? I read you suffered with them, so I didn't even try it myself. I will try these pittas.
AnastasiaK
Kirks, until you get it. This is me baking in a new oven, where the temperature is up to 300 degrees. It turned out that this is the main thing for pit. And this dough is denser than the one from Anise, you can roll it out with a rolling pin. And then I level the dough with my hands and, apparently, somehow the fibers are pressed down, the cavity does not work. But I will try it anyway, after all, Anise's dough is out of competition in taste (from pizza to me).

so I didn't even try it myself

But this is you in vain, Natasha !!!

I have a five minute dough pitta from Anise obtained the first time to this day !!!
AnastasiaK
Crochet, on a stone? And even a stone did not help in my gas oven, the temperature for the pit is not enough.
Crochet
Nope), on an inverted baking sheet ...

I get pittas from the five-minute test from Anise the first time
Krosh, you always have exemplary baking, I doubt myself, every failure I want to throw the recipe away
AnastasiaK
Kirks, not scary). I've baked chocolate on boiling water three times in a row on Sunday. So far it hasn't worked out. It turned out great !!
Go for it!
