Preparation for work

Before using for the first time, wash all parts of the shredder except the motor unit, following the instructions in the Maintenance, Care and Storage section.

Using Kitfort KT-1389

  • Place the upper knife in the guide axes on the lower knife and turn counterclockwise towards the closed fi lock until it stops so that the pointer on the lower knife aligns with the line on the upper knife.
  • Place the bowl on a flat surface. Place the knife block in the bowl on the stationary shaft, after removing the protective covers from them. Fill the bowl no more than halfway with food.
Note. The volume of the liquid should not exceed approximately 400 ml.
  • Close the bowl with a lid. Install the motor unit on top, with the knife axis falling into the groove of the motor unit.
Note. If desired, you can use the rubber pad that comes with the bowl. Thanks to the rubber lining, the shredder slides less on the table and further reduces vibration and noise during operation.
  • Connect the shredder to the power supply.
  • Support the motor unit with your hand. Press the I or II speed button to start working. Release the button to turn off the chopper. Wait until the rotation of the knives has come to a complete stop.
Note. It is recommended to work in pulse mode, periodically pressing and releasing the I or II speed button.
  • At the end of the work, turn off the shredder and disconnect it from the power supply. Remove the motor unit and cover. Take out the knife block.
  • Use the crushed ingredients as directed. You can put a lid on the bowl and use it to store food.
Attention! The chopper should be running for no more than 30 seconds, after which the motor unit should be allowed to cool down for 2 minutes. After three such cycles, the motor unit must be allowed to cool down for at least 30 minutes to avoid overheating of the motor.
After switching off the chopper, always wait until the blades have come to a complete stop. Always unplug the chopper before removing the motor unit.

Usage tips and limitations

Attention! For best results, the minimum amount of ingredients should completely cover the lower knives and the maximum amount should be close to the upper knives. The temperature of the food to be chopped must not be higher than 50 ° C, otherwise the glass bowl may crack.
The degree of grinding is determined by its duration: the longer, the finer. To obtain grinds of different grain sizes, work in a pulse mode.
Do not put ingredients in the chopper bowl that could damage the appliance: bones, large chunks of hard food, coffee beans, black pepper, frozen food, etc.
The temperature range for products to be placed in a glass bowl is from 0 ° C to 50 ° C.
The glass bowl is not microwave-safe.
Cut hard and dense ingredients (meat, cheese, crackers, carrots, celery) into pieces no more than 2-3 cm, soft (cabbage, raw potatoes, fruits) - into pieces 5-7 cm.When chopping greens, do not lay it above the top knife and be careful not to wrap long sticks around the knife.
The chopper does not make powdered sugar.
Before preparing baby food, make sure liquid food is not hot and does not exceed 400 ml.
Use the pulse mode to chop cooked food (vegetables, meat and fruits). To mix the food into a homogeneous mass, press the speed I or II button continuously for 7-8 seconds until you achieve the desired result.
If the ingredients stick to the edges of the bowl and do not mix well, stop working, open the bowl and, without pulling out the knives, spoon the food from the edges to the center with a spoon, then continue working.

Maintenance, care and storage

Before servicing the shredder, remember to disconnect it from the power supply.
Wash all removable parts, except for the motor unit, immediately after use. Do not allow food debris inside the bowl to dry.
The bowl, knives and lid with a silicone seal are dishwasher safe.
Pull the knife block out of the bowl before cleaning, then remove the upper knife from the knife block. To do this, grasp the plastic protrusion of the lower knife with one hand, and the plastic part of the upper knife with the other hand, turn it clockwise towards the open lock if, and pull it up.
Attention! Be careful not to injure yourself, the blades are very sharp.
Do not use aggressive detergents and abrasive materials for washing.
Wipe the knives dry after washing. Place the upper knife in the guides on the lower knife and turn counterclockwise until it stops. Then put the protective covers over the knives.
Wipe the motor unit with a damp and then dry cloth. Do not immerse the motor unit in water or other liquids. If water gets into the motor unit, dry it thoroughly before turning it on.
Store the shredder in a cool dry place out of the reach of children.
