Ingredients

pearl barley 70 g
water 1.2-1.3 l.
honey or sugar to taste 100 g
lemon juice to taste 100-150 ml.

Cooking method

  • Barley waterRinse the groats very well. Choose a cereal such that its grains are very light. We have not found such cereals on sale.
    Barley waterRemove the zest from one large or two small lemons. Add to the rump. Squeeze the juice from the lemon.
    Barley waterFill with water. Put on fire and let it boil. If your cereal is not very good, like mine, then boil for 5-7 minutes, drain the water and pour boiling water over it. Reduce the fire to a minimum, cover the pan. Cook under the lid for 2 hours.

It serves as a medicine for me, now there are almost two liters of thick pearl barley jelly in the refrigerator. I soak a glass of pearl barley overnight, change the water several times. I cook in a pressure cooker for an hour at the highest pressure in two liters of water. I chop with an immersion blender and rub through a fine sieve. As a result, jelly comes out. I eat with the addition of honey.
