Chocolate waffles

Ingredients

flour 1.5 tbsp (195gr)
baking powder* 3 (* 2) tsp
salt 0.5 tsp
sugar 0.5 tbsp (125 gr)
vanilla extract (not in the recipe) ** 1h l
instant coffee (not in the recipe) ** 1 tsp
cocoa powder *** 4 tbsp. l (40 gr)
milk *** 1 tbsp (250 gr)
eggs 2 pcs
melted butter (any favorite vegetable can be used) 4 tbsp. spoons

Cooking method

  • * The recipe gives 3 teaspoons of baking powder, but seriously 2 is enough, they rise very well.
  • ** I always add vanilla extract and coffee to my chocolate recipes. They are not in the original recipe, so I write both options.
  • *** I write about cocoa and milk below.
  • In a bowl, combine dry ingredients, in another bowl, combine eggs, butter and milk, add to dry ingredients and stir. You should get a batter like a pancake. Depending on the flour and the quality / quantity of cocoa, more milk may be needed. I advise you to just make the first waffle and adjust the amount of milk using it. In any case, the dough pours but not like pancakes.
  • The recipe is very good. The waffles are very chocolatey and not sugary. Since the recipe is taken from a western site, I will note the comments of other users. Cocoa can be brought to half a glass, you can also make the recipe absolutely vegan (read lean) by adding any nut milk and not adding eggs (I have not tried it), you can also easily replace simple flour with whole grain flour; it is very tasty to bake them in coconut milk with coconut oil (I tried it), you can also add 150 grams of chocolate chips for even more chocolate.

The dish is designed for

Irina_Smith, Irina, thanks for the recipe. Boys love everything chocolate.
Please tell me, approximately, how much dough to pour on one waffle?

Question: do not these wafers become "rubbery" when they cool down?

Natalya, I have a very convenient measuring spoon - I pour it, but in general, it just has to completely cover all the squares, but no more, and the bottom of the dough rises filling the upper squares. I would say, probably 1/4 cup per waffle. I certainly didn't measure.
Upd just measured, half a measured glass (125 ml) will fit in my spoon

Irene, no, I would say they are biscuit, not rubber at all. They are in the refrigerator, if wrapped in cling film, they stand quietly for a week and they also freeze well. Then for 10 seconds in the micro and as good as new.
