Polish khlodnik

Ingredients

Kefir 3.5% 1 liter
Sour cream 20% 400 g
Boiled water 0,5 l
Boiled or baked beets (red) 1 PC.
Fresh cucumber 2 pcs.
Radish 5-6 pcs.
Green onion 5-6 feathers
Dill 5-6 branches
Ham 350 g
Peeled shrimp (can be replaced with crab sticks) 350 g
Table mustard 1 teaspoon
Sugar 1 teaspoon
Salt, black pepper Taste
Lemon juice 1/2 lemon
Boiled egg 1 PC. In every plate

Cooking method

  • Chlodnik is cooked in different ways in different regions of Poland. They can add or subtract some of the ingredients set out in the recipe (mainly meat or shrimp). I am giving this recipe in full, believe me - it's very tasty!
  • So, Khlodnik is prepared very easily: three boiled or baked red beets on the smallest grater. Cucumbers and radishes - on the largest grater.
  • Finely chop the dill and green onion, the ham - into 1.5x1.5 cm cubes. If we replace the shrimps with crab sticks, then we also cut them into cubes to the width of the sticks.
  • Fill in kefir, sour cream and water, season with mustard and lemon juice, add pepper, salt and sugar.
  • We let our Khlodnik brew and cool in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
  • After that, pour into plates, add the boiled egg cut into 4 parts in portions to each plate and enjoy!
  • Enjoy your meal!
