Girls and boys, tell me, please.

At what number of pallets does Voltaire not need to swap them? Will Voltaire pull 15 pallets declared? I can dry it only at night, I would not want to change the trays.

The cost of nets and trays for 14 pallets is almost the same as the cost of a dryer with 15 pallets (7000 vs 8500).
A thought crept in - maybe take 2 dryers, come up with nets and trays from the "crazy handles" series for this year, buy original ones for next year?
I plan to dry vegetables (tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, zucchini), fruits (apples, pears, plums). For a family of 6, 7 visits :) With herbs, the issue has already been resolved. Without grids at all?

I am planning to cook dried vegetables in a double boiler, or as usual - soups, vegetable stews, etc. Are the dried vegetables delicious, how do you think?

Yours faithfully,
Catherine

I would not like to change trays in places.
Voltaire 100 Lux - analogue of the dryer Ezidri , so there is no need to change trays in places - drying takes place evenly on all trays.

It depends on what and how to cook, and where to apply drying.

You can dry quite a bit of vegetables (in a glass, in a handful) and then immediately cook something of them - and it will immediately become clear "I need it"?

If vegetables and fruits were not tasty, we would not dry them in tons, and would not hide them from home, since drying disappears from the table faster than it dries

I would take two dryers. More room for maneuver. And if you decide that you don't like drying, then you can sell one. And a big family may split up - the children get married, they leave - you can give them a second dryer ...

Buy 10 sieves. No need for a second dryer.
Walter easily pulls 15 pallets and does not need to be moved.
With nets and pastilles, it's up to you, you need them for 14 pallets. This is if you plan to make marshmallow, and if not, then you may not take it yet.
IrVas
I bought Walter last year with 12 pallets for my son, he lives in a region where there is something to dry, unlike my place of residence. On vacation, she was actively used, made marshmallows for 12 pallets, did not rearrange, everything was well dried. I really enjoyed using this number of pallets.
EkaterinaS
Thank you all for your answers!

I saw a review on Yandex that when drying on 10 pallets it was necessary to rearrange in places, so I decided to clarify.
The manager of the company from which I buy the dryer said that they have a client-entrepreneur, they make marshmallows, put marshmallows on 20 pallets at once.
Think about where the truth is. In the middle, probably at 15)))) As the manufacturer promises))

Recently I stumbled upon a book about dehydration on Amazon. The whole world opened up for me))
Summer resident 4 stood for 2 years almost unused. So - greens, apples.
In Voltaire, I was interested in a large drying area (dry in 1 layer). Also in the Dachnik he bakes food under the heating elements. Along the edges of the pallet, the chips are still raw, and under the heating elements are already brown.

The recipes in that book, however, did not really like. I expected something healthier. Why be proud that you have retained maximum vitamins in dried cucumbers, if you then "restored" them with boiling water, vinegar and sugar (pickle recipe)? But this is a matter of taste.

Please tell me if tomatoes, pears, plums can be dried without nets?

Why am I worried about the 2nd dryer. I will have a problem with logistics, the delivery of the crop no more than once every 3-4 days, or even less often. With 1 dryer and drying in 1 layer, you won't bring much (it will be lost), so serious workpieces will not work. At a time, 15 pallets will contain about 4.5 kg, as I understand it. Plus the work factor - today I have time to do the procurement, tomorrow not.
The price of the issue bites, of course. On the other hand, according to my calculations, the dryer pays for itself already in the first winter season. This is purely mathematical, without considering that winter fruits and vegetables are often simply not tasty.

Cooking with dried vegetables, fruits, herbs

Check out my dried dishes here, no vinegar Cooking with dried vegetables, fruits, herbs # 12

How do you see the principle of drying recovery? Added boiling water - and that's it? Thus, you cannot open the taste of drying, it is advisable to add drying to food, then drying reveals its taste and helps to reveal the ingredients in the dish.
Although, there is drying, which is delicious on its own, without recovery - depending on what you have in mind, see our recipes again (the link is given above).

It is more practical to count differently.
Is it possible to buy that drying machine in winter that we dry ourselves? And if so, at what price?
Is it possible to buy dried tomatoes with basil and spices, dried zucchini, dried nectarines, plums?
Or dried vegetables for the broth? And the marshmallow?
Etc...

This is how the real ROI of the dryer is determined.
EkaterinaS
Girls, no one tried to put 20 pallets on Voltaire?
I counted the blanks. If 20 pallets + Summer resident 4, then maybe that's enough.
Lulvila
EkaterinaS, good evening. I have a Voltaire 1000 Lux with 15 pallets. Works around the clock. Everything dries evenly.

10pcs nets. It's convenient with them, but it's not bad without them)) I put good baking paper with a silicone coating under the marshmallow.
EkaterinaS
In general, I ordered two Voltaires with 10 pallets each, without nets and marshmallow trays. The cost is the same as one Voltaire in the Maxi configuration (15 pallets, 15 nets, 10 marshmallow trays). If there were bones, the meat would grow :) There will be room for maneuver - the work schedule is not predictable, logistics too, the option - "dry a little every day" is not entirely mine, unfortunately. And I would like to prepare decently.

Many thanks to everyone for taking the time to answer and help with advice - in the harvesting season! Special thanks to Oksana :) Briefly and clearly :)
All successful and successful blanks!

P.S. I really hope for even drying. Today I threw out some of the cucumber chips - they are baked in Dachnik 4 in places under the heating elements: (Moreover, this uneven drying was most pronounced precisely on the cucumbers (from what was dried). With the rest of the products it is not so noticeable.
Lulvila
EkaterinaS, two Voltaires! Great)))
About dried vegetables. Dry tomatoes with herbs and a little salt. I cut into rings, dry until crisp. The chips are delicious! They are eaten with a bang. And if you grind, then the seasoning is excellent. I dried the zucchini with rings. In winter, restore and fry as usual. Eggplants are also in rings and stripes. For stews, goulash caviar. Pears, plums, apricots in a bag already))). I make apples with chips. I take out the core with a special knife, and cut it on a grater, cut into rings. Also fly away quickly.
Meat, chicken fillet.First into the brine, then into the marinade. And into the dryer. Story!)))
EkaterinaS
Oksana, please tell me what slices you cut, in how many layers do you dry and at what temperature?
Apple chips (cutting 4-5 mm thick) stick together if placed in two layers in Dachnik-4. One layer makes 180-200 grams per pallet
So you can dry until the next harvest ((
I haven't tried it in Voltaire yet.
Lulvila
EkaterinaS, I never put in two layers if dried with chips. Everything will stick together unambiguously, not only apples))) If you cut it not in chips, but in slices, then it does not stick together in two layers. I dry everything 70-75 degrees. Until completely dry. A pear in two layers is dried in large slices for two days, a bucket goes on five pallets. We have a large pear. Cut into large chunks. Chips dry faster, 6-8 hours, until completely dry. I cut chips thinner, 3 mm. Well, of course it fits less, there's nothing you can do))) But beautiful ones are obtained.
EkaterinaS
Oksana, thanks for the answer.

So, in order not to stick together, you need to cut thicker, dry longer, right?

Quote: Lulvila

Please tell me what slices are you cutting?

And zucchini, eggplant - also how thick, how many layers, what is the temperature, how long will it dry?
Cherry and cream tomatoes - in half and in one layer, right?

Thank you very much!
Lulvila
EkaterinaS, my husband cuts a pear arbitrarily, unfortunately there is no photo. It simply cuts into several pieces, cutting out the core.
As for the chips, whatever one may say, but lay them out in only one layer. If in two, then after drying they cannot be torn apart, stick together tightly, even thinner, even thicker, cut them.In the process of drying, when the apples are half dry and the volume is lost, I pour them from two pallets into one, turn them over, and dry until end. And I cut new apples on the freed pallets.
Zucchini cut in circles, and also in one layer. Eggplants in circles in one layer, if cut into slices, I simply sprinkle them in bulk on a pallet.
Cherry did not dry, they are not there, as well as cream)) But just tomatoes (Volgorad variety), I have a good harvest this year, I cut circles, if large, then in half rings. I added a little in a cup, and sprinkled with herbs, mixed, the excess juice flows down. I put it in one layer and dry it. To the state of chips. I love them very much)) I dried the quarters without seeds in the same way, but to a state of bending)) Then in jars of oil (olive + sunflower).
