Kenwood Kitchen Machines

🔗

The main goal of this topic is to understand the names and compatibility of attachments. And also what parts the attachments consist of, so that, if necessary, know by which code or article number to look for the desired part.

But Kenwood has many variants of cars, and, accordingly, names.
Some names mean the same car, but different configurations. Some are different classes of cars. Therefore, there is a need to put everything on the shelves here.

Main lines of machines
The main lines are all machines with 4.6L bowls. and 6.7 liters.
In addition to the size of the bowl, they differ in technical characteristics, class and equipment.

Separate lines of machines
There are two lines of cars that do not fit into the basic concept of “small 4.6 liters. and large 6.7 liters. bowl".

These are the two starting machines - Prospero and Multi One.
And a separate machine, positioned only as a planetary mixer - kMix.

This nest is represented by one single attachment.

The socket is available on the 70, 80 and 90 induction Cooking Chef models. And in the old Major and Chef series (in those days when "major" meant a car with a large bowl, and "chief" meant a small bowl).

Kenwood recently ditched the mid-speed socket entirely, moving the food processor to the high-speed socket.

Most nozzle names AT changed to KAX.
For example, the AT950 meat grinder (with a pin) became KAX950 (with a hexagon).

Blender Kenwood KAH358 / KAH358gl / AT358
🔗

There have been a great many blenders in the history of Kenwood kitchen machines. Narrow, wide, iron, glass, plastic, transparent, not transparent. It makes no sense to list them all, except for the current main model and its predecessor.

At the moment, this is a large, glass, heat-resistant Kenwood KAH358 blender, or at the end it can still be written gl, abbreviated from glass glass.

It differs from the previous model AT358 only with an updated knife, and a stirring stick was added, under which the cover was changed.

The AT358 can be turned into a KAH358 simply by purchasing a knife, stick and cover, and vice versa.

Flexi with silicone edges (Kenwood Flexi Beater)

For KM Kenwood, there were three flexi modifications - the old flexi form, the new flexi form, and an intermediate one, which was quickly abandoned.
Which flexi is better - old or new - is the subject of constant debate among owners of CM. Each form has an ardent fan base. Many people tend to have two options in order to use them in different processes, because each has undeniable advantages.

To summarize briefly the collective opinion, the pros / cons are divided as follows.

The old form, due to the fact that in the center it has jumpers, it is better to whip up a very small amount of oil, which in the new flexi can fall into the void in the center and spin there. We have to stop the CM and remove the oil from the flexi spatula.

It is believed that the old flexi form is better for kneading the dough on the cake than the new one. But the new form collects from the walls an order of magnitude better, because rubber fenders adhere more tightly to the bowl.

Having two forms, I also made a personal opinion about each.
Oil up to 70-80g old flexi, indeed, will beat better because of the jumpers in the center. More than 100g of oil - there is almost no difference, and from 150g - there is absolutely no difference which one to use.
For delicate mixing of custard and other processes using temperature (in induction), I like the new flexi better, because it collects better from the walls, preventing the food from burning, and the void in the center is also a plus.
But I could not notice the difference in kneading the cake dough. In fact, the cake mixes well with an iron K-shape.

In stores / services for sieve, codes and / or articles are rarely written, more often you can find the name just in words (description), for example, on Amazon or on ebee. So, to find the necessary part, you need to use two options - the article or the full name of the AT ... or KAB ... attachment - the search engine will give more results.

When searching on the Internet, the English spelling of the letters of the article is required. The reference book uses English names, but in other topics on our forum there is also a Russian spelling, for example AT, KAV (Russian layout) instead of AT, KAB (English).

General information (how not to get confused in the names)
Kenwood has a lot of cars, the concept in the names has changed several times, while many old models are in use. Therefore, it will be necessary from the very beginning, but briefly.

🔗

In the middle of the last century, the first Kenwood appeared, it was called Chef... Well, because the master chef. The first model was with a 4.6L bowl. Almost immediately there was a model with a large 6.7 liters. a bowl - and they called it Major, which in translation means - the main one.

And for a very long time, about 60 years, there was only this division:
- all models with a 4.6L bowl. - Chef
- all models with a 6.7L bowl. - Major

They could be of different classes, which was already determined by the prefixes in the name - Classic, Premier, Titanium, etc.

Cars were always produced in pairs.
For example, Classic Chef and Classic Major, or Titanium Chef and Titanium Major, etc.

Those. the choice has always been two cars of the same class, but different in the size of the bowl.

***
The company developed and experimented.
Parallel lines have appeared, and even progress is not standing still - the induction model Cooking Chef, which has brought its share of confusion - like the Chef, but in the size of the Major.

As a result, the company has now come to a clear concept.
From now on, all machines in the main line (4.6L and 6.7L bowls) will be called Chef.

With a small bowl of 4.6 liters. - just Chef.
With a large bowl of 6.7 liters. - Chef XL.
And induction machines - Cooking Chef.

And already inside there will again be a classification - Sense, Classic, Elite, Titanium. Well, what else will they come up with later.

Those. now the current classification by machine class and bowl size looks like this - Classic Chef and Classic Chef XL, or Titanium Chef and Titanium Chef XL, etc.

However, since models with old names are still on sale, and for many they work fine, the transition period will take quite a long time. Many sites, even the official ones, still have Chef and Major sections, meaning cars with 4.6L cups. and 6.7 liters. respectively.

Starting machines

🔗

Prospero and Multi One are starter machines with 4.3L bowl.
They are immediately completed with additional attachments.

They differ in everything from the main machines.
Appearance (triangular top), size.
Even the principle of planetary mixing is different.

Nozzles from the main line do not fit them, because they have a different mount.

Prospero - Sold in one single version.
Multi One - sold in several versions (not in all countries), but the car itself is the same, the only differences are in the configuration.

Multi One came out later and is considered a development of Prospero.

Planetary mixer kMix

🔗

kMix is a planetary mixer devoid of the redundancy of kitchen machines.
Outwardly - austere, almost retro-design, many color options, both mono color and multi-colored stripes. The name always starts with KMX, the rest of the numbers and letters in the title indicate the color. But the technical specifications are the same for all kMixes.

The kMix, in addition to the planetary socket, has only one more socket - a low-speed one.

Since the bowl of its unique size is 5L, the attachments for the planetary socket from other machines are not suitable, only special for kMix.

But the nozzles from the low-speed socket are suitable.
With the old system - through an adapter, with the new system - directly.

Whisk (Kenwood Balloon Whisk)

🔗

Besides the fact that the corollas are divided according to the bowl size (6.7 liters; 4.6 liters; kMix, Prospero / Multione), they can also be divided into three types - lightweight corolla (fluffy with a skirt), fluffy corolla, reinforced corolla. They are equipped with cars of different classes.

All whisks of their sizes are interchangeable!

Required explanations:
one.The whisk shank has two mountings at the U base.
That is, one end is attached, the twig is bent, and the other end is attached. If it is indicated that there are 12 rods, then there will be 24 fasteners on the circle.

2. New and old code.
The design of the rim (like the geometry of the bowl) has not changed for decades. But the price of its production is changing - the cost of the corolla in 2010 and 2018 is different. When releasing a new car, Kenwood re-labels the component parts, giving them new codes. But the corollas themselves are exactly the same. Not all codes are indicated here, but only the new code and the previous one. It makes no sense to indicate very old codes, since they are no longer on sale. But the previous code comes across quite often, and may be cheaper than the new one (depends on the honesty of the store).

Nozzle for gentle mixing and aeration (Kenwood Folding Tool, Delicat mix)

🔗

Unique folding motion To mix the flour into the whipped whites (eggs) so that they do not settle, you need to manually stir in the flour with a spatula, using gentle movements from bottom to top. The shape of this nozzle follows these movements. Stir in flour gradually at the lowest possible speed.

Keeps air in mixture - keeps air (oxygen) in mixtures. Therefore, it is suitable for dishes such as soufflés, and others where delicate mixing / stirring of ingredients is required. For example, beaten egg whites into a soufflé mixture, or, conversely, gently pour the liquid into the whipped egg whites. Because of this, it received an abbreviated name on the Russian-language Internet - souffleika.

Stirring pad (Kenwood Stirring Tool)
For induction machines only!

Induction machines can cook a wide variety of sweet and savory foods. During the cooking process, many recipes require stirring. For example, when browning onions, or while making jam. Etc.

First generation stirring pad

🔗

The new code is KW713836.
Old code - KW712869

In induction machines of the first generation (series 70, 80, 90 - KM070, KM080 / KM084, KM094 / KM096), the stirring head was made of stainless steel and bifurcated - the central part rotates in one direction, the curved part moves along the edge of the bowl in the other direction.

This nozzle can be put for the second generation induction machine (KCC 9040S / KCC 9060S).

Second generation stirring pad

🔗

Stirring pad (left) - KW716605
Stirring clip (right) - KW716575

The second generation stirrer only moves one way around the edge of the bowl. Great for tempering chocolate.Due to the shape of the plastic end, the nozzle is nicknamed - butterfly attachment.

A separate socket has been developed for this attachment. Therefore, the stirring attachment can be used not only for direct stirring during cooking, but also simultaneously connected with a whisk or K-shaped attachment for better mixing / whipping. The stirring attachment must not be installed at the same time as the hook.

The stirring clip can be additionally installed on the edge of the bowl. It creates a barrier for products that rise when stirring, throwing them into the center of the bowl. The clamp can only be installed with the stirring pad. With other attachments (hook, whisk, K-shaped) - it is impossible, because will cling and break.

This nozzle can't be put for an induction machine of the first generation (series 70, 80, 90 - KM070, KM080 / KM084, KM094 / KM096).

Kenwood kitchen machine classification (table of current models)
For almost 70 years, Kenwood has produced many models of kitchen machines - different classes, configurations, etc. Small bowl machines of any class were called Chef, large bowl machines of any class were called Major. This concept has now been changed - see. General information (how not to get confused in the names)

The name of the cars began with KM, KMM, KMC, KMP, only the numbers defining the class differed. This concept has also undergone changes to make the classification more logical.

The modern line of basic machines (without induction) consists of 4 classes (each class is represented by a large bowl model and a small bowl model). Plus the induction kitchen machine, which, although special, also belongs to the main machines.

And there are two separate lines:

Kenwood's current line of basic kitchen machines for 2018.
Explanation of the table:
  • power: the first number refers to the model with a bowl of 4.6 liters., the second to 6.7 liters.
  • technical characteristics are indicated only the main ones inherent in this class of machines
  • nozzles: the basic complete set of whisks is indicated (covers, blades by default for all models). Any configuration can be on sale, implying basic + additional attachments. In different countries, additional equipment may differ, the basic one is the same everywhere
  • Sense has two modifications - ordinary (indicated in the table) and colored (not indicated)
  • not officially sold in Russia (as of September 2018): Elite of any size, colored Sense XL
  • colored Sense with a small bowl have two differences from the usual Sense with a small bowl: a glass bowl and a power of 1200w (versus 1100w)

Under the spoiler, the table is in one picture, but the original size cannot be added. Therefore, without a spoiler, cut into three parts (click on the picture, it will increase).

Explanation of non-induction machine names (alphanumeric):
  • all new lines of machines without induction are called: with a bowl of 4.6 liters. - Chef <name of the series>, and with bowls 6.7 liters. Chef <series name> XL
  • the alphanumeric name for all new lines of machines without induction begins the same: with bowls of 6.7 liters. (XL) - KVL, with 4.6L bowls. - KVC
  • the first digit after KVL / KVC indicates the series. In different countries, the configuration of machines is different - there may be a machine + blender / meat grinder / juicer, etc., therefore 2-3-4 digits may differ, but the first digit is the same everywhere for its class
