Croutons with cottage cheese

Ingredients

white bread (loaf) 1 PC
curd cheese 3 pcs
chicken egg 2 pcs
milk 250 ml
vegetable oil (butter) for frying
powdered sugar for sprinkling (optional)
vanilla sugar 1-2 sachets (optional)
raisins optional

Cooking method

  • Cut the loaf into slices about 1 cm thick.
  • Mix cheese with sugar and add raisins if desired.
  • Take 2 slices. Spread cheese on one slice, cover with a second slice on top, press lightly.
  • Make as many such blanks as needed.
  • Beat eggs and vanilla sugar in a container with a fork or whisk. Add milk and beat a little.
  • Dip each workpiece in an egg-milk mixture.
  • Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan (or melt butter) and fry the blanks from 2 sides.
  • Put the croutons on a dish and sprinkle with powdered sugar (optional).
  • Very tasty and nutritious. Even those who do not like cottage cheese eat this with pleasure.

Note

To prepare this dish, you can use ready-made curds. But I used my own cottage cheese.
In my freezer there is always kefir 2.5% fat (you can have any fat content) in soft packaging,. If I need curd, I take out frozen kefir in the evening, separate it from the packaging and put it in a colander with 2-3 layers of gauze. For convenience, I break frozen kefir into 2 parts with a knife. In the morning, the delicate and delicious curd remains in the gauze, and the whey flows into a saucepan under a colander, it can be used as directed.
If I need a drier curd, I put it under a press for a couple of hours.
I add sugar, vanilla sugar and raisins to the finished curd.

Vika, I have a special device for making cheeses, and I use it. But, in principle, you can adapt anything, put a little oppression on top, and so that there is somewhere to drain the whey.
