Caprese salad (pumpkin)

Caprese salad (pumpkin)

Ingredients

Tomatoes 200 g
Pumpkin (nut) 300 g
Mozzarella or feta 200 g
Sage fresh 2 twigs
Olive oil 2 tbsp. l.
Balsamic sauce 2 tsp
garlic 1 clove
Bacon (jamon, Parma ham) 50 g
Salt pepper taste

Cooking method

  • Peel and seed the pumpkin, cut into thin slices.
  • Pour oil into a frying pan, put peeled and sliced garlic, sage cuttings and heat until the garlic begins to change color. Remove all spices from the oil.
  • Put pumpkin in fragrant oil, pepper, salt and fry on both sides.
  • Chop tomatoes and mozzarella (feta is fashionable and it is better not to cut, but to smash).
  • Fry the bacon and sage leaves until crispy. You can use ready-made slicing of jamon or Parma ham, then it does not need to be heat treated, and the dish will acquire, in my opinion, a more refined taste.
  • Lay on a dish alternating between warm pumpkin, tomato slices, mozzarella. Season with ground black pepper and coarse sea salt.
  • Roll the fried bacon into rosettes and arrange between the rows. Garnish the salad with sage chips.
  • Drizzle with balsamic sauce and serve warm.

Note

The recipe was not invented by me (I stumbled across the site "Eat at Home"), but I still allowed myself some lyrical digressions. Worthy decoration of the festive table. In general, I am quite skeptical about pumpkin (to put it simply, I do not like it in any form), but in this salad it just won me over! For sage, now, as you know, is not the season (that's why I did not use it), but in the summer I will definitely try it. Yes, and ham also seemed to me more appropriate both from a dietary and gastronomic point of view than bacon.
These ingredients make a large plate or platter.

Hope you enjoy it!
