Preparing frozen cherries for baking or for cooking in Oursson fermenter (milk cooker)

Ingredients

frozen cherries 500-1000 gr

Cooking method

  • Pour water into the milk cooker, close it with a whistle and set it on the smallest fire. Pour the berries into a saucepan, close the lid and slowly heat our berries for a while. We do not bring the milk cooker to the whistle... Stir the berries periodically, checking their degree of defrosting. As soon as we saw that there are no more ice berries left, turn off the milk cooker and let it sweat for 15-20-30 minutes. You can add some sugar as you like. With sugar, cherries will also give off excess juice.
  • Thus, we do not get boiled berries, but only thawed ones. At the same time, with such heating, the berries give off more juice than defrosting them at room temperature or in the microwave.
  • Now our berries can be weighed out, and then the filling can be prepared.
  • If you have plans to make a cherry tincture in a fermenter, then you do not need to weigh the berries.

Time for preparing:

depends on the number of berries

Sveta, Thank you! There are cherries and cranberries with lingonberries, and there are currants - you need to cook
Wildebeest
Admin, Tanya, better make the lingonberry steamed, if only because I love her in this form.
DonnaRosa
And just defrost, without problems, is it impossible?
Wildebeest
DonnaRosa, you can defrost without problems, but with moderate heating, more juice will stand out from the cherries, which may be superfluous in baked goods or dumplings.

I don't think it's so important and worth bothering about.

I'm just telling you how I use the milk cooker.
And to bother or not to bother is up to you.
It is much more convenient for me to do a lot of things in a milk cooker.

I have it, I boil milk in it. What else can you do in it if it is a milk cooker?
Wildebeest
DonnaRosa, In it you can do everything that is done in the bath. I cook cheese or just vegetable soups, simmer fish on an onion pillow, juicy chicken breast. All at once and do not remember. I like porridge from a milk cooker more than from a multicooker.

Thank you. I cannot cook fish or meat in milk dishes. Maybe porridge, but there are dishes for porridge. Hot chocolate, but there are his dishes for him too. So I will continue to boil the milk.
