Note

PATISSONS - plate gourd, fruits of the same name annual herb, mainly bushy, 50 cm high with hard pubescence, large, heavily cut, acute-angled leaves and yellow bell-shaped flowers. Flattened plate-bell-shaped pumpkins, white or yellow in color, with delicate strong pulp.

The homeland of the squash is South and Central America. Cultivated as a vegetable on all continents; in the former USSR - everywhere - from Moldova to the Baltic States.

Patissons contain 23 mg% vitamin C, carotene, mineral salts (especially a lot of potassium), organic acids (mainly malic acid), pectin substances, etc.

Young fruits are eaten, since in ripe state they become hollow, the peripheral part becomes woody and becomes inedible. Patissons can be boiled, stuffed, fried, canned, pickled, salted in the same way as cucumbers. For fresh consumption, the fruits are removed at the age of no more than 7-10 days, when they have a mass of 200-500 g; for canning, 2-3-day-old ovaries are used - "puplata" (weighing no more than 80-100 g, diameter 6-9 cm) with dense crispy pulp, small underdeveloped seeds and delicate skin. You can store squash at a temperature of 0-1 ° C for 2-3 weeks. The best varieties are: White round (spherical fruits) and White flat (plate-shaped fruits with ribs around the edges).

Patison can be simply fried with round loaves in butter.
A tasty and satisfying dish, like meat chops.

IrshaUnfortunately, for some reason, zucchini is more common than squash. But the squash is good in its own way and you can apply the same recipes to them.

Gorgeous recipe! If the kids grow up, I will definitely do it in a multicooker!
Bianchi
Rada-dms, Thank you! You can try to make it with very small ones (5 cm) - it will even taste better, they are denser and crisper, so good for pickling and pickling Only then you can not stuff them, but minced meat (any - homemade, from beef, pork, lamb, chicken) roll into balls of the same diameter and put alternating with squash

Patissons are tastier than zucchini. And so they all belong to zucchini.
Bianchi
DonnaRosaBut after all, zucchini are not only zucchini, there are also a great many varieties of them. In general, squash and squash are a family of pumpkin
DonnaRosa

What a wonderful recipe! And I sit there racking my head what to do with the squash. The first time I decided to grow, and the harvest exceeded all expectations, and now I have not only a lot of zucchini, but also squash.
