Dill-Free Whole Grain Tortillas

Ingredients

Whole grain wheat flour 300 g
Potatoes (net weight) 200 g
Dill greens 50 g
Fresh ginger (net weight) 10 g
Vegetable oil 50 g
Water 100 g
Salt 1 tsp

Cooking method

  • Boil the potatoes in their uniforms, immediately lower them under cold water, dry, peel, mash with a fork, cool.
  • Chop the dill in a chopper.
  • Peel and grate the ginger.
  • Knead the dough by mixing all the ingredients.
  • Collect the dough in a ball, place in a container, cover and leave for 30 minutes. After soaking, the dough will become softer and slightly sticky. Since the chapatnitsa flattened the dough for me, I did not use additional flour for molding. If you roll it out with a rolling pin, then you will still need to sprinkle the table with flour.
  • Then pinch off a small piece of dough. roll into a cake and fry in a dry frying pan on both sides until tender.
  • Dill-Free Whole Grain Tortillas
  • Does it happen that what is useful is also tasty? Sometimes yes. These cakes are just from this series. They are so self-sufficient that you can eat them without anything, just like that. I fried in a chapatnitsa (as chapatis they do not inflate). You can fry in a regular pan. The crunchiness depends on the thickness of the roll and the cooking time. I roasted until crisp.

Marina_K
Mistletoe, your recipe is very relevant. Lean, but unusual at the same time. I want to try to do it.
Omela

Oksan, how lovely these are your cakes!

I don't see the second photo

Ksyusha, thanks for the clarification
Svetlenki
Omela, please tell me, if you make an option without crunching, you can then wrap them in, for example, a cutlet with onions and salad, will they not break? And, I suppose, it will be necessary to grease with ghee or butter after frying?
NatalyMur
Oooh ... chips ... I love it, bookmarked it. I will do it soon
Thanks for the much needed recipes.

Sveta, you can screw it up, especially if you also lubricate it with oil.

Oooh ... chips ...
Natalia, you could say so, if you fry well.

I am grateful for such a topical recipe! How tasty and healthy it is! Wonderful crunchy tortillas! I did it for breakfast, ate it quickly, they still need to cook it Looks like it's time to think about buying a chapatnitsa Thank you very much Omela!
Elena_Kamch
Omela, and the photo is so beautiful! Drooling straight and the smell from the monitor flew
Omela
lu_estrada, Lyudochka. Thank you!

Bona fide, Elena, I'm very glad. what did you like!!! And the chapatnitsa yes. handy thing. Now they suddenly ate without bread, so in 30 minutes I made a chapatok.

Elena_Kamch, Elena. Thank you! I am very pleased. that the photos were pleasant !!
Bona fide
Omela, I watched the video on YouTube - just a miracle device! Only loud, right? It is a pity that we do not have chapatnits on sale. While we will rejoice in tasty and healthy yeast-free cakes from the pan
With me on you

Only loud, right?
Loud??? That she (chapatnitsa) is generally silent. What is there to be buzzing for? It's just a double-sided pan.

So I was shooting a video, only the child giggles off-screen.

And only sold in India, yes ..

With me on you
similarly!
Bona fide
Omela, thanks for the video! I really like it - what a beauty it turns out! So this is how to do it right Great instruction for beginners like me. This means that before that I saw some kind of wrong process - there the dough was pressed with a lid many times, and the sound was noisy ... but it doesn't matter already. Now I understand the difference. I will look for opportunities and, sooner or later, but I will definitely get it
And "soundtrack" - such a sweet mood instantly improves
Omela
Elena, So well inflated from flour in / s.

there the dough was pressed with a lid many times,
A maximum of 2 times must be pressed, otherwise the dough is fried and will not puff up, well, it can break.

Bona fide
Omela, thanks, now I will know. Probably, you can also cook pita in it ... The necessary thing is definitely
Bona fide
In our family, yeast baked goods are not eaten, therefore it is relevant
Didn't take into account flour

Probably, you can cook pita in it too ...
I've already been asked about pita. It seems to me that it turns out a little thin for pita. There is also the side that is inflated. it turns out almost transparent. The most convenient way is rolls with a filling, such as

Chapati with green dip (Omela)

And you do not have intermediary sites for buying abroad, if you do not have the opportunity to buy yourself.
Bona fide
Yes, there probably is ... I have not studied in detail yet, I just phoned the stores and looked in several online stores. I will
I'm interested in the recipe, I'll take a look and maybe try to try
Omela
Elena, good luck!
Bona fide
I forgot completely - we have students from India - also an option
Thank Omela

we have students from India
Great option! Just choose at least 900W for power, otherwise the oven will be slow and sad. We have a separate topic .. there you can read it too.

Tortilla Maker or tortilla maker. Chapatit or flatbread maker
Bona fide
Great! Thanks for your help !!! I will study the topic, right in the morning and start
And we are on "you"
Good luck
lu_estrada
Ksun, you know, I've already tried two chapatnits, tortilla makers, they don't work like your little thing, class!
Why look for another one, well, it's so hard to roll out the dough, oooh!
And what a cool off-screen giggle, ooh so sweet to hear, mmm!
Omela
Luda, well, I don’t even know why it worked out that way, or rather it didn’t work out with the chapatnitsa. You are generally a hero. I would never roll a rolling pin!

I am exactly the same as my chapatnits have never met on sale. And my seller already has others in stock. Although I suspect that they are all made at the same plant, and then only different labels are molded.
Katko
Although I am without chapatnitsa, but interesting, I will definitely try, thanks for the recipe
What do you think, if you roll out the dough with a dough sheeter .. what thickness to choose?
Omela
Katerina, it is possible and on a dough roll. I think. Tear off a piece from the common dough. The thickness should be experimented with. If you want to crunch, then you need to thinner. I think. need for medium thickness.
