Pea porridge in a milk cooker

Pea porridge in a milk cooker

Ingredients

Split peas 400 g
Water 300 ml.
Salt 3-4 g
Butter taste

Cooking method

  • Designed for a 2L milk cooker.
  • Rinse the peas thoroughly and soak in water for 4-5 hours, and it is better to leave overnight. If you don't have enough time, you can fill it with hot water for 1 hour.
  • Pour water into the shirt of the milk cooker, put the peas, pour in half of the water (150 ml) and put on the stove. As the water boils, we detect with a timer 30-40 minutes. (if the peas have been soaked for a long time, 25-30 minutes is enough). As time passes, we knead the porridge into mashed potatoes with a spoon, usually it is quick - 5-10 movements and you're done. Now pour in the remaining 150ml. water, salt and mix well again. Salt should be done carefully, peas are sensitive to salt and one extra pinch - the porridge will be too salty.
  • Serve with butter.

The dish is designed for

4-5 servings

Time for preparing:

50 minutes

Note

It is convenient to boil peas in half the water for several reasons - firstly, foam will form less, which strives to lift the lid and escape to the stove; secondly, when the peas are ready, they will break into mashed potatoes much easier and faster. And yet - when the porridge is ready, you can add a can of stewed meat 300g .. there is usually enough liquid and the second half of the water is not required.
If, after cooling, the porridge is very thick, it can be diluted with a little hot water or milk.
If, even after an hour of boiling, the peas remain firm, then an old one has been caught, which has lain for several years. There's nothing you can do about it, you have to call the blender for help ..

AndreiWhat a wonderful pea porridge you have. I will try to cook it, but not in a milk cooker, but in the Steba pressure cooker. Thanks for the recipe!

Larissait's also delicious
Valentine, yes, it will work there too, try it. By the way, it doesn't foam there at all, although it's kind of scary to knead it in Teflon afterwards ..
