Sponge cake in a double boiler

Ingredients

Flour 2/3 cups
Egg 5 items
Sugar 1/2 cup
Vanillin on the tip of a knife
Orange juice from 1 fruit, freshly squeezed
Coconut flakes 2 tbsp. spoons

Cooking method

  • At the request of readers, a recipe for a biscuit in a double boiler.
  • The recipe was found on the Internet.
  • Cooking method:
  • Separate the egg whites from the yolks and beat with a mixer until a stable foam is formed (their volume should increase several times). Add yolks, flour, sugar and vanillin to the resulting mass, mix carefully until smooth. Separate half of the dough and add cocoa to it. Line a basket for rice with foil and put the resulting mass there (with a tablespoon, alternately adding the dough with and without cocoa). Cover the rice bowl with foil and put in a double boiler for 35-45 minutes. After this time, remove the cake from the steamer, separate from the foil and chop. Put the pieces on a dish, pour over with orange juice and sprinkle with coconut.
  • I have a glass mold in place of the rice bowl. And I grease it with a little oil. Then I pour in the dough. You can not add cocoa to the dough, it will be just white.
  • When the biscuit is baked, it cools down, you can eat it just without anything, you can divide it into three parts and smear it with any cream, in short, your imagination continues.
  • Enjoy your dessert.

Time for preparing:

45 minutes

Swetab, I'm intrigued !!!! Is this really possible ?! I will definitely try !!!
Swetab
Yes, I also thought so from the beginning, but now this is possible and even necessary to try.
Cake
Something I got confused in the terminology: both a cake and a biscuit appear, but they are steamed, and this is the third option - it is called PUDDING. Classic English dessert. True, the British did not have coconut flakes, but served with orange jam. But this is a distant story, cooking is changing, like everything else in life ... Still, I would call the dessert a pudding ... Or, at least, definitely not a cupcake.
Tell me, does it smell like eggs when it's ready and cold?
I honestly admit that I have a purely theoretical interest in your recipe, because I don't have a double boiler and I hardly will. Why do you make a biscuit in a double boiler - is it better than it turns out in the oven?
Swetab
Cake bought a double boiler, tried the recipe I liked, but never made it in the oven.
zalina74
Swetab, does your glass dish fit into this steamer? It tapers in the middle ... Can you find out the dimensions of the glass mold?
Swetab
The form fits completely here

Girls, do not hesitate !!! I made for a sample in a double boiler and half in the oven. So in a double boiler, this is something !!! Such tenderness and airiness !!!!!! Thank you! Thanks for another steamer opportunity. In the summer, in the country house, where there is no oven, we are now provided with a biscuit for strawberries! But ... I gave a bit of baking powder to be on the safe side ... I was afraid. The next one will not be afraid !!!

I also did it yesterday in a double boiler - this is something

I am a master, but how did it happen in the oven? I also want to try.

I will throw pictures in the evening, in a double boiler and in the oven. In the oven - usually. But in a double boiler

Now, if people initially knew that this could be done in a double boiler, they would buy with great enthusiasm, for example, YA ... I don’t buy PATAMU WHAT is boring, but here is such beauty!

what do you think .... will it work in a silicone mold ?? I really want to do ...

And I thought about that too!

Here, look. The one that is light and completely unformed is from a double boiler. Since I put 5 cupcakes in a foil pan, they blurred as they were comfortable there. And if the shape were fixed, then they would probably grow very big!

I could not resist and baked the same biscuit in the oven. Impregnated with impregnation, smeared with cream Just !!!!!!! You can safely fill in with impregnation - the biscuit does not creep !!! Thanks for the recipe !!!
Swetab
Wow, what a pretty one, tell me at what temperature and how long they baked in the oven, I also want to try it, I never baked a biscuit in the oven.
artisan
Swetab, if you have never done it, then come here https://Mcooker-enn.tomathouse.com/index.php@option=com_smf&topic=39664.0
I also made dough in a double boiler using this principle.

Here, the son demanded to continue !!!
Today's experiments with form. Two baked in foil molds, covered with paper and covered with foil. And one in a plastic tray, which is suitable for microwaves, put plain writing paper on the bottom. I would like to find such an option that would not be fooled with paper and foil.

From the paper, the finished biscuit does not lag behind, but from the plastic container, it lags behind on the sides.
Made three with different fillings. I added shavings to one, chocolate drops to the other, and the third, as in the original recipe, with cocoa.

Next in line is a biscuit on Tortyzhka. I want to try it in a double boiler in that proportion. I will definitely report back.

And we, having eaten the second portion, concluded that there is only one drawback and very significant for those who do not like eggs. A sponge cake from a double boiler, unlike an oven, smells very much of eggs.

Strange The sponge cake from the steamer smelled like eggs just while it was cooling. When it got cold, of course, I didn't shove my nose into the biscuit, but ... no, we ate it for two days - it didn't smell. In the context, it differs from you. My porosity is a little smaller. Try a little more flour. I measured out about 170 ML for myself. Maybe the flour will take away the smell I'm not a professional, of course

In my oven, it is recommended to bake on a fan on 2 tiers at 150-160 degrees. (Burning oven). I did this: the first minutes 15 - 180 degrees, and then - 140-150 until ready. It took 40 minutes in total. It was just idiotic. See how interesting he was pulled inside, although the cake pan was ordinary

It is a finished cutaway. I took a larger portion of cocoa.

Hello everybody! Hostess, tell me, what is the approximate size and weight of the biscuit? I was presented with a three-piece Tefal 4003 or 4008, while I can not exactly determine the model, they are very similar. So it will work out in it or not? What additional form of volume to take? Or foil your own basket with foil? Tell me, please, it's too beautiful and really want to-I-I !!!!

When you knead the dough, you will see for yourself which mold to pour. For the first time I took a 1.5 liter microwave container and lined it with foil.
Buka
A great biscuit turns out.
Made in the form for microwave (thanks for the idea). I didn't cover it with foil, just greased it with butter. The most tender tenderness came out. Soaked in condensed milk of our own preparation (liquidish of course), but the taste turned out to be awesome. My fastidious dishes licked.

As for the egg smell, I'm sure, if the biscuit was allowed to stand overnight in the refrigerator, the smell would disappear, as it would not be strong. But who will give him.

That's lovely! I never thought that you can make a sponge cake with a couple. Did anyone do it in a slow cooker? You can also put it there on the grate in some form and in general it will work in a multicooker or not? Is the steamer temperature higher or about the same? Girls, if someone tried to do it in a slow cooker, please respond.
Qween
Melanyushka , in a multicooker you can bake a biscuit in the bowl itself. The cartoon steam basket is still small.
Melanyushka
I often bake biscuits in the multicooker cup itself, but here it was this method that interested me - for a couple. Today I tried some baked in the traditional way - in the oven, some - steamed. Really very tender biscuit, it looks more like pudding, while it is hot, it cools down and the smell of eggs is quite strong, I'll see what happens to the biscuit tomorrow. I did not add vanillin, but I probably should have, maybe the smell of eggs will not be felt this way. Now it's the turn to bake steamed bread. I will definitely try.
