Hashbrown with cheese sauce

Ingredients

For hashbrown
potatoes (preferably white inside) 400 g
water 1 l
salt 1 tsp
butter for frying about 50 gr.
For the sauce
milk (cream) 100 ml
hard cheese 50-100 gr.
garlic 1 clove
ground black pepper, greens taste

Cooking method

  • Hashbrown is an analogue of our potato pancakes, a traditional breakfast in the USA. There are many hash brown recipes, I share one of the already tried and loved ones. The secret of hash brown is that it is made from reddish brown potatoes with white flesh. But if there are no such potatoes, ordinary potatoes are fine.
  • We set to boil water, peel and rub the potatoes on a medium grater
  • Hashbrown with cheese sauce
  • As soon as the water has boiled, pour the grated potatoes into it, stirringHashbrown with cheese sauce After a minute or two, drain the water through a colander, leave the potato mass to cool.
  • Let's do it ourselves sauce. The sauce is the most elementary and fastest, you can use any other that you like.
  • We put milk or cream to warm up, three cheese on a fine grater and chop the garlic. Add cheese to boiling milk, stir vigorously until melted, remove from heat, add garlic, pepper and herbs to taste.
  • As soon as the potato mass cools down, wring it out in a towel to remove excess liquid Hashbrown with cheese sauce heat the butter in a frying pan and spread the potato mass with a spoon, forming small pancakes. Hashbrown with cheese sauceAs our hash brown browns, turn them over very carefully, fry them on the second side, remove them on a plate, and enjoy. Very tasty with any cheese sauce and even just with mayonnaise.
  • Bon Appetit!

Note

I often replace butter for frying with vegetable oil, I don't like frying in butter, and it burns faster.
When frying from the "wrong" potatoes, the hash brown decently creeps, so sometimes I don't form any cakes, but I fry with one big pancake, less fuss - the result is the same.
Hashbrown are still not pancakes in our usual sense, and for me personally there is more fuss with them, but the result - divinely crispy pancakes - certainly pleases

thank you, Tina dear, she finally taught how to cook hash brown, no, we order hash brown in restaurants for breakfast, but how to cook at home, I didn’t think
V-tina
Ludmila, thanks for your attention to the recipe, but how is it correct - "hash brown" or "hash brown"? everywhere we have the name exactly through "a"
lu_estrada
hash - pronounced HESH, Last - pronounced - flatter, this is in American English, but you use more British English and maybe pronounce it differently. I looked in Russian net and it says Khash.
My daughter and her family living in Moscow have a slightly different English pronunciation from mine, because it is Oxfard.
What's the difference - such a delicious recipe, thank you Tina!
My mother used to say - you can even call me a pot, just don't put it in the oven.
Albina
