When I decided to buy an electric dryer, one of the first questions presented to me was the process of restoring food. I tried to find information on this, but all I came across was "Just Add Water" (as in the advertisement for the once popular Yuppie drink). For compotes, teas and various dishes where stewing or languishing will take place, restoration, of course, is not needed. But for baking, it is simply necessary. Berries and fruits, for example, can still be restored and simply eaten in order to remember on a winter evening how good it was in summer. Vegetables are restored for frying or cold salads.

Therefore, I decided to show everyone who is asking the same question how I do it and what comes of it.
I actually fill the product with water, but the water does not completely cover it. Experimenting, I realized that a lot of water is not good! Since part of the product is washed out with water. If this water is then also used, then it's okay, and if a well-restored product is needed, then water is needed at a minimum. If I see that the product has "sucked in" all the water, but is not ready yet, then I add a little. I use boiled and chilled water. You can also use warm (the recovery process will be faster), but then, it seems to me, more juice is lost. I hasten to disappoint those who think that dry food completely regains its shape and size.

The first I decided to restore the berries: strawberries, raspberries and cherries (with and without seeds). Strawberries (sliced) recovered in 15-20 minutes, cherries in 3.5 hours, raspberries in 6 hours. I must say right away that cherries and raspberries will not be suitable for decoration, for example, cakes. They look not so hot! But strawberries look quite tolerable. They taste different from fresh ones, but, as for me, they are much tastier than frozen berries. The reconstituted raspberries surprised me with their taste. It's hard to describe.

The whole process can be seen in the video:

I just have a question: why and in what cases should dried fruits be restored?
Maybe then it is worth giving recommendations and specific examples?

For example (see my link) I directly use dry vegetables and fruits, throwing them into broths when cooking, when stewing meat and other things, or directly into water for cooking compote drinks, when cooking porridge - vegetables and fruits are well restored, do not boil and retain their shape after heat treatment.

I'll add it now.

I use dry berries and fruits for baking. Dry baked goods will definitely not go. Here are just puffs made from reconstituted strawberries and raspberries.

The drain was restored for 1.5 hours. She poured a little water, as usual. The density turned out to be elastic. And, frankly, I liked the puff with reconstituted plum more. Somehow it tastes better.

Dried and restored cucumbers (in a little water). As for me, in the restored form they are absolutely not suitable for anything. Maybe if you dry them or add spices, it will be even more or less, but so ... it turns out something like sweet rubber

I compare with frozen ones:
