Filo dough baklava

Ingredients

Filo dough 9 sheets
chopped hazelnuts about 1 glass
butter 0.5 packs or slightly more
For syrup:
Water 310 ml
granulated sugar 435 ml
lemon juice 1 tablespoon

Cooking method

  • Filo dough baklava
  • Fold the dough sheets in half along the long side, and cut along this line. Fold in a pile, cover with a towel so as not to dry out.
  • The hazelnuts should be chopped finely enough, but not into dust.
  • Melt the butter (I do it in the microwave).
  • It makes sense to cook the syrup before you start making baklava:
  • combine water, granulated sugar (it is in milliliters in the recipe, I hope this will not cause any difficulties for anyone), combine lemon juice in a saucepan and boil over medium heat with stirring for 10 minutes. Set aside to cool to room temperature.
  • To wrap rolls, you need to stock up on a long stick slightly thinner than a pencil. A disposable Chinese chopstick was fine for me.
  • Grease the top sheet of dough over the entire surface with butter, and sprinkle evenly with a not very generous pinch of ground nuts. We apply a stick to the narrow side of the rectangle and carefully roll this sheet over it with a roll. We simply grease the next layer of dough with oil and wind it in the same way on top of the first. Slightly press the roll with your fingers in those places where the stick sticks out of it and squeeze the tube into an accordion. We take out the stick, put the accordion in a fireproof rectangular shape of a suitable size.
  • We do the same with the rest of the dough sheets, winding them in succession two at a time (one with butter and nuts, the other just with butter), making accordions and putting them in a mold.
  • When everyone is ready, grease the accordions on top with butter and send them to the oven (180 degrees) for about half an hour, or until browning.
  • We take out, let it cool. Gently, right in the mold, cut the accordions into pieces of 3-4 cm, gently and evenly pour the baklava syrup with a spoon and let it soak for at least an hour or two. If there are any ground nuts left, sprinkle the baklava on top.
  • If suddenly you did not understand anything in my explanations, then here is the video that I was guided by. In my opinion, the recipe is very good, and in the presence of at least a few leaves of filo dough, it will help out if you need to cook something sweet for a hearty tea party

Tatyana, I made baklava from puff before, it's not scary to do (I didn't even drink 100 grams for courage), it's terribly tasty to eat. And here from the filo - such a lovely sight.
