Warm salad with ice cream

Ingredients

mayonnaise or any sauce based on mayonnaise 400 g
cream cheese (I had melted) 200 g
wasabi 2 tablespoons
olives 0.5 cans
greens for ice cream (I had green onions and dill) 1 bundle
pasta 100 g
boiled-smoked sausage (cervelat) 150 g
cucumber 1 PC
radish 6 pcs
Bell pepper 1 PC
green pea 4 tablespoons
mushrooms (I had dried black woody ones) 0.5 handfuls
bulb onions 0.5 pcs
salad greens (I had scallions, parsley and dill) 1 bundle
leaf lettuce
vegetable oil for frying

Cooking method

  • 1) With the composition of this ice cream you can experiment endlessly. Try replacing mayonnaise with sour cream and processed cheese with salted feta. You can take cream cheese with a more neutral taste, for example, Ricotta, Philadelphia or Mascarpone, but then the ice cream will need to be salted (if you chose sour cream as the second main ingredient, not mayonnaise). Wasabi can be substituted with mustard, and it is better with granular. Instead of olives, use pickled cucumbers or capers ...
  • Here's what I used this time:
  • Warm salad with ice cream
  • But let's get started ...
  • Finely chop the greens and olives.
  • Warm salad with ice cream
  • We combine mayonnaise, cheese, olives and wasabi.
  • Warm salad with ice cream
  • Beat the mass well with a blender.
  • Warm salad with ice cream
  • Gently mix the whipped mass with chopped herbs.
  • Warm salad with ice cream
  • Freeze the mixture in an ice cream maker for an hour.
  • This frozen dip can be used with almost any vegetable or warm salad. In hot weather it just goes with a bang, and in cool weather too
  • ----------------------------------------
  • 2) And although this ice cream will feel comfortable in a plate with any salad, I will give an example warm salad.
  • What we need besides ice cream:
  • Warm salad with ice cream
  • Soak the dried mushrooms in warm water for 20 minutes. Boil pasta. In the meantime, we cut separately the products that will undergo heat treatment.
  • For further frying, cut pepper and sausage into strips, cut radish into quarters, chop the swollen mushrooms.
  • Separately cut the cucumber into thin strips, the onion into thin half rings, the remaining radish into thin circles.
  • Warm salad with ice cream
  • Ready pasta, mix with mushrooms, sausage, pepper and radish, add green peas and fry everything well in vegetable oil.
  • Prepare plates for serving: put chopped onions, cucumbers, radishes in piles on lettuce leaves around the perimeter.
  • Warm salad with ice cream
  • Put warm salad in the center, sprinkle with finely chopped herbs, add a ball of ice cream sauce.
  • Warm salad with ice cream

Note

For serving with a warm salad, well-frozen ice cream is better (at least 2 hours in the freezer), but just cooked, still soft ice cream is perfect for fresh vegetable salad... In terms of consistency, such ice cream will keep the shape of a ball well, but at the same time it is soft enough to easily mix with the salad.

As a bonus, an example of such a salad that I made:

olives - 0.5 cans
pear - 0.5 pcs
cucumber - 1 pc
tomato - 2 pieces
bell pepper - 1 piece
onion - 1 piece
celery - 2 cuttings
greens (I had leafy salad and green onions)

Warm salad with ice cream

Cut the olives and celery into rings, onion and cucumber - half rings, tomato - slices, pepper and pear - into thin strips, tear the salad into pieces, finely chop the other greens. Mix everything, put in a bowl, put a ball of frozen sauce on top.

Yulechka, I also like the idea of combining warm and cold in one dish. This contrast fades quickly, but you've found a good way to delay it. On occasion, I will certainly use your frozen sauce idea.

The sauce is ice cream, that's cool! It will definitely come in handy, especially in summer salads. Thank you so much!
