Beets in orange juice

Ingredients

medium beets 3 pcs.
for filling
Orange juice 1 tbsp.
honey or brown sugar 2 tbsp. spoons
corn starch 2 tbsp. spoons
lemon juice 2 tsp
zest of one orange

Cooking method

  • Studying the lists of foods that help to cool the body, I found that nurticologists, preaching different nutrition systems, give recommendations, sometimes diametrically opposite. In particular, this applies to oranges. Ayurveda adherents say that they should be eaten in winter, but Chinese doctors, on the contrary, do not advise this, since they believe that orange as a product has cooling properties.
  • For today's experiment, I have chosen the recipe of the famous Israeli home cook, Shula Modan.
  • So,
  • Beets in orange juice
  • Boil or bake beets, peel and cut into cubes.
  • Mix in a saucepan all the components of the filling, except for the zest, and cook over low heat with constant stirring until a smooth, homogeneous cream is obtained. Add zest.
  • Pour the sauce over the beets and mix well. Let it brew for at least 2 hours before serving.
  • I usually take a couple of medium beets, 1 large juicy orange (juice and zest), 1 tbsp. l. potato starch. Half the rest of the ingredients. The sauce turns out to be jelly-like and solidifies upon cooling.
  • Take all the zest, it is she who gives the dish unimaginable freshness. In the refrigerator, you need to let the dish brew for a day or two. The longer it stands, the fresher the taste.

Note

It is believed that the warming or cooling properties of a product can only be experienced through prolonged use. So I'll tell you that cooling effect this dish you will feel from the very first spoonful.

Lily, but I take less beets (although "3 average" - the landmark is still not accurate). And from a good orange, with due attention, almost half a glass of juice is obtained. At least enough sauce is obtained so that all the beets are covered with it, and the excess does not drain off in a puddle.
