Ingredients

Baked chicken fillet 1 PC.
Bacon 4 strips
Stalk celery 2 pcs.
A tomato 2 pcs.
Avocado 1-0.5 pcs.
Cheese (preferably cheddar) 50-100 g
Chicken eggs 2 pcs.
Lettuce leaves bunch
Mustard 1-2 tsp
Garlic 1-2 prongs
Olive oil 4 tbsp. l.
White wine vinegar 4-6 st. l.

  • Continuing the theme of a light lunch or dinner, I am sharing a recipe for the well-known American Cobb salad, which, moreover, has its own interesting history.
  • Salad is quite capable of replacing lunch or dinner, as it is rich in proteins, fats and complex fiber. And the way this salad is served helps to choose exactly the amount of ingredients that you prefer at the moment. Men usually lean on bacon and chicken breast, women prefer bacon only as a small addition for taste and put more vegetables on their plate, since there are a lot of them in this salad. This is the beauty of this salad, that everyone has the opportunity to choose a set of ingredients to their liking.
  • French light dressing is served with the salad.
  • It is advisable to bake the breast, which is preferable, or boil it in advance, and then you will spend 10 minutes maximum on cooking dinner.

  • - Cut the bacon into thin strips and fry until crisp in a frying pan without oil.
  • - Boil eggs hard-boiled in advance and peel.
  • - With lettuce, romano or iceberg lettuce, cut into squares, line the dish in which the salad will be served.
  • - Next, cut all the ingredients into equal cubes and spread them in even strips. The order is visible in the photo.
  • - For dressing, mix French mustard with wine vinegar (preferably white) or lemon juice and garlic passed through a chopper. I like to add grained mustard to this dressing. Grind everything with olive oil and serve separately in a small gravy boat.
  • Everyone pours the salad on their plates to taste.

Cobb salad first appeared in the Brown Derby restaurant chain, or rather in one of the restaurants of this chain - Hollywood Brown Derby, located on Vine Street in Hollywood.
The story goes that in 1930, closer to night, a restaurant owner named Robert Howard Cobb looked into the kitchen of his own establishment. he was very hungry. So I started looking for something to eat. In the refrigerators, he found some green salad, boiled chicken breasts and eggs, celery, avocados, tomatoes, garlic and a slice of Cheddar cheese.
At the same time, the chef Chuck Wilson was finishing his day in the kitchen, grilling bacon for the last clients. And Bob, seduced by the smell of fried bacon, took a few bites in addition to the food he had collected. Cobb cut the ingredients he found into cubes, laid them in strips on lettuce leaves and seasoned everything with a French sauce based on olive oil and mustard.
There is another version, which says that the salad was invented by the aforementioned chef Chuck Wilson, and was simply named after the owner of the establishment.
Over time, Cobb salad has become popular throughout America and even beyond.
