Beetroot granite

Ingredients

beet 300gr.
water 1L.
sugar 2st. l.
freshly squeezed orange juice 200 ml.

Cooking method

  • Peel the raw beets, cut into cubes, put in a saucepan and cover with water.
  • Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Strain the cooked beets.
  • Add sugar to the resulting broth, mix the freshly squeezed orange juice thoroughly, taste and, if necessary, add more sugar.
  • Cool to room temperature.
  • Transfer to a large rectangular baking sheet and place in the freezer.
  • After 30min. mix everything with a fork and put back.
  • Every 15-20 min. stir with a fork until the contents of the container turn into a mass of small pieces of ice.
  • Arrange in a glass and serve.

Note

A refreshing and light dessert. A good alternative to heavy creamy ice creams. Beetroot adds sweetness, but not its obsessive taste.
