Orange syrup "Instead of honey"

Orange syrup Instead of honey

Ingredients

Oranges 4 things
Mint 1 bundle
Sugar 2 Kg
Water 1.5 l
citric acid 1 tsp

Cooking method

  • I'm allergic to honey, sooooo bad. I started looking for something to replace it. I considered maple syrup as an option, but it turned out that I was allergic not only to honey, but also to the price of maple syrup. As I saw the numbers on the price tag, I immediately began to itch. Therefore, in the fall I made syrup from oranges, and now I add it everywhere.
  • How do we cook: carefully wash oranges and mint, grind oranges in a meat grinder (I cut into pieces and grind with a mixer), finely chop the mint, put it in a saucepan, fill it with water, bring to a boil. We boil for about 15 minutes, filter through a sieve, add sugar to the strained broth, and cook over low heat, stirring constantly. I cooked for about 30 minutes, but everyone has different stoves, look at the density, it should be like fresh honey, or even a little thinner. At the very end, add citric acid, first half a spoon, try it, if it's too sweet, add more. To make it tasty for you, I added 1 teaspoon. Immediately poured into sterilized jars, screwed on the lid, turned the jar over to cool. I store it in the closet.

The dish is designed for

4-5 half-liter cans

Time for preparing:

about 1 hour

Cooking program:

mixer, stove

Note

The taste of the syrup is not very intense, with a pleasant aftertaste of orange and mint.

Vei
Is it bitter?
Albina
A good recipe for disposing of oranges, if you suddenly do not eat dry mint for sure. But how much to take?
elka34
Vei, No, absolutely, sweet, but not cloying, due to the fact that there is lemon.
elka34
Albina, I do not know how it will be with dry, did it in August, it was full of mint. But if you want to do it now, try it with a dry one, do not overdo it, you hardly feel the mint in the syrup, but it gave color, when it mixed with oranges the infusion turned colored, the color turned out to be amber, like real honey.
Vei
elka34, Lena, and chop the oranges with the peel?
elka34
Vei, Yes, so we wash them very carefully, I rubbed them with a brush.
Tumanchik
Lennula must be bookmarked. I am not a supporter of heating honey, so your honey is very useful. If I get hold of oranges, I will be sure to chat!
elka34
tumanofaaaa, Ira, of course, try it.

Girls, what if you first brew dry mint in water, and only then cook syrup on this water?
elka34
Light, try, just a small portion, for one orange, tell me how it goes
Light
elka34, I would love to, but there is no opportunity now. I live in the DPR, I don't work, there is nothing to buy.
elka34
Light, patience to you and health to you and your loved ones.
Light
Thank you.
