Fried Cod with Tomatoes by Gordon Ramsay

Ingredients

Potatoes 700 g
Olive oil 2st. l.
Butter (I have olive) 25 g
Skinless cod fillet (cut into 4 pieces) 700 g
Bunch cherry tomatoes 12pcs.
Juice of half a lemon
Salt pepper taste
Chopped parsley 2st. l.

Cooking method

  • Preheat the oven to 200C.
  • Peel the potatoes, cut into 4 pieces. Dip in boiling salted water, cook for 4 minutes. Drain the water, return the potatoes to a dry saucepan, add olive oil, close the lid, shake until all the potatoes are covered with oil. Put the potatoes on a baking sheet lined with paper, bake for 10-15 minutes. Stir the potatoes if necessary.
  • Meanwhile, in a cast-iron pan, melt the butter (I have olive) oil, put the fillets and fry for 2-3 minutes on both sides.
  • Then add the tomatoes to the fish, put the pan in the oven and bake for 5 minutes.
  • Remove fish from oven, drizzle with lemon juice, season to taste. Leave to "rest" for another 5 minutes.
  • Put the potatoes and fish on a plate, pour over the resulting juice.
  • Unrealistically delicious !!! And surprisingly, nothing special, one might say primitive ... and so delicious !!!!

The dish is designed for

4 servings

Gordon Ramsay

Fried Cod with Tomatoes by Gordon Ramsay

British chef of Scottish descent, known as the first Scotsman to be awarded three Michelin stars. Popular host of British television shows The F-Word, Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares and Hell's Kitchen, as well as their American TV twins.

After leaving school, he made the spontaneous decision to go to college, teaching hotel and restaurant management. After graduating from college, he moved to London and got his first job at the prestigious Harvey’s restaurant under the direction of Marco Pierre White. Two years later, he moved to the famous Le Gavroche, the first three-star restaurant in Great Britain (at that time already deprived of the third star), where he improved the skills of classic French cuisine with the hereditary chef Albert Roux. A year later, Roux decided to leave Le Gavroche and invited Ramsay with him to the Hotel Diva, a new luxury resort restaurant in the French part of the Alps. After a while, Gordon moved to Paris, where he worked with such famous chefs as Guy Savoie and Joel Robuchon.

Completing his studies, Ramsay accepted an offer to work as a chef on a private yacht. After a year's sailing holiday in Bermuda, Ramsay returned to London and got a job as chief at La Tante Claire (Chelsea). However, he soon received an invitation from his former mentor Albert Roux to take the place of chief at Aubergine (then still bearing the name Rossmore). Ramsay took on a new job and within four years raised the restaurant's rating to two Michelin stars. But due to disagreements with the rest of the owners (at that time Ramsay owned 25% of the restaurant's shares), he left Aubergine, along with the staff and the kitchen in full force.

In 1998, Ramsay opened his first own restaurant, Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road, which received three stars in 2001, making Ramsay the only British chef with the highest Michelin rating at the time and the only three-star Scottish chef ever. In the same year, he opened the Pétrus establishment as the head-patron, famous in Britain for the "wine" episode with bankers who spent 44 thousand pounds on wine for a dinner of six. Despite the slightly scandalous smack of fame, Pétrus earned a Michelin star even before his first birthday, and in 2007 received his second.

Ramsay's restaurant empire currently has 10 restaurants in the UK, 6 of which have at least one star, 3 pubs and 12 restaurants outside the UK. The approximate value of Gordon Ramsay Holdings Limited is $ 163 million, 69% of which is owned by Ramsay himself. 🔗

Ksyusha, very beautiful and fast, and how delicious!
Ksyusha, and necessarily with a bang, is she not at all important here?
Yutan
Thanks for the recipe! Can you replace cod with carp? Just in stock, I want to quickly try out the recipe!

What cannot be taken away from Ramsay is the ability to take away recipes from Waitrose Food Illustrated. I saw it many times while watching his show. This recipe is from the April 2002 issue.
Although, to be honest, he only chooses worthwhile recipes! Here are the best. And simple to perform.

Omela, great serving! I just want to eat it, and I’m not ashamed even to serve it to the guests. And framing on the subject: a book, a fresh bunch of cherry blossoms, a rustic bottle. Bravo!!!
It's a pity, you can't put likes here, as in social networks.

What a beauty!!! I don’t even doubt my taste for a month now I have 2 portioned oval pans lying around: I bought 4 pieces from greed at a discount and didn’t know where to attach it, but here’s just thanks!
Omela
lu_estrada, Yutan, Kasanko, mur_myauthank you girls! I really liked the book, and the recipes, and Ramzi esessno. So now I won't rest until I re-cook everything.

Can you replace cod with carp?
Tatyana, theoretically it is possible .. although, I repeat, it is better with any file.

: elka: Ksyun, so I love cod (and in general any cod fish) and baked potatoes, you must definitely cook. Did the potato last 15 minutes in the oven? Was it small?
Omela
Liza, on the contrary, the cod always seemed a little dry and rubbery to me. but here I liked it sooo much. Even though my fillet was homemade, I had to buy a whole fish and cut it.
Vei
and I love cod because of the rubberiness (there is something to chew))) and not fat. After your photos, I wanted fish and potatoes!
Omela
And me...
lu_estrada
Aaah, Ksyusha-Ksyusha-Ksyusha! All ingenious is simple! no cod - we have selmon in portioned pans! Great dish, 25 minutes and lots of fun. Selmon fried only on one side, turned the tomatoes over and put them in the oven, added the potatoes baked in an air fryer for 15 minutes and Iiii olyalyalya as Elenka grit (sir) squeaked from the delicious food. there are also pieces of delicious and aromatic bread from Elenka T.
Happy New Year! New happiness!
