Austrian pumpkin-apple compote (Kuerbis-apfel kompott)

Ingredients

pumpkin 300 g
the apple is dense, not starchy 300 g
sugar 1.5 stk
wine vinegar 100 ml
juice of one lemon
cloves, ground or whole pinch or 1-2pcs
allspice or ground 1-2pcs or a pinch
cider / apple wine / apple juice 1 stk

Cooking method

  • Peel and cut the pumpkin and apples, add wine vinegar and stand for 5-7 hours, stirring occasionally. Then completely drain the liquid, you can even rinse it a little. Boil lemon juice and sugar, add cider and apple-pumpkin, cook until desired softness for 3-10 minutes. Compote is eaten completely cooled. It's very sour for my taste!
