Cooking method

  • Last year we had a blockage of apples and really did not have enough time or saucepans for processing. So I tried experimenting with a slow cooker. The result is a very simple recipe:
  • 1. Wash the apples, peel and divide them into slices. This is best done with an apple cutter - it saves a lot of time
  • 2. Cut each slice across into 3 pieces (if the apple is medium)
  • Apple jam
  • 3. Cover with sugar and stir. But it is better to do this first in another saucepan, since sugar scratches the coating of the bowl while stirring

  • 4. You can let it stand for a while so that the juice stands out, but I did not always have time for this
  • 5. Cooking under pressure, in the "stewing" mode for 5 minutes. Sometimes I increased the time to 10-15 minutes if the apple pieces were large or if I put apples more than 1kg. Pressure builds up for a long time, you can add 50-100 grams of water to speed up, but the jam will be a little thinner ...
  • 6. The result is the following jam:

Actually, the recipe is universal. This year, I used it to make plum jam and apple and lingonberry jam.

And it turns out all the same faster in a slow cooker, because in a saucepan you had to bring the jam to a boil 3 times, with complete cooling. And taking into account the fact that this is done only in the evening after work, the cooking was delayed for 3-4 days. And then the full cycle from washing apples to pouring into jars - 2-3 hours
