Ingredients

turnip or turnip 1 kg
pork neck 600 g
carrot 250 g
sour apples 250 g
bulb onions 150 g
melted butter 50 g
vegetable broth 0,5 l
White wine 0.2 l
thyme bundle
lemon juice and zest 1 PC
curry
salt
pepper

Cooking method

  • The turnip stew is a typical dish in Lower Saxony.
  • To cook it, heat the ghee in a saucepan and fry the meat in it. Then add the onion and sauté everything together.
  • Add broth, wine, thyme, salt and pepper. Stir and let simmer for 40-45 minutes.
  • At this time, wash the turnips and cut them into thin slices.
  • Wash the apples, remove the core with seeds and cut them into cubes.
  • Peel the carrots and cut them into slices.
  • Remove the zest from the lemon and squeeze out the juice.
  • In a saucepan with meat, add prepared vegetables and apples, zest and lemon juice, simmer for another 20 minutes.
  • Add curry, if necessary, add salt and pepper.
