Ingredients

Cooking method

  • Kichiri (kichari) is the main dish of Ayurvedic cuisine, as it is characterized by ideal digestibility and balance of nutrients. It can be cooked without vegetables, but since it is used very often, it is supplemented with various vegetables for a change (tomatoes, zucchini, pumpkin, eggplant, cauliflower, broccoli, bell peppers, green beans ...). I have canned tomatoes in their own juice. Rice is best used basmati, brown or red. I have it red. The ratio of rice: mung bean can be changed (the less health, the less mung bean). The set of spices is quite constant (I just took garam masala), ginger is better fresh (2-3cm, grate), but you can also dry it. Usually kichiri is cooked for over an hour, in a pressure cooker it is ready in 20 minutes. On "frying" for 2 minutes, fry the spices in oil, add chopped onions (another 2 minutes), grated carrots (another 2 minutes), well washed rice (another 2-3 minutes). Add mung bean, ginger, vegetables and water (do not salt). "Porridge" mode 0.7 (high pressure) 15 minutes. When unlocked, add salt and add zest and juice of 1 lemon. Serve with herbs and fresh vegetables.

Here you can stewed buckwheat, just do without breast, or steamed rice with vegetables, 🔗, pearl barley with mushrooms, or millet with dried fruits, or buckwheat with dry mushrooms, or lentil soups... Where necessary, remove what the husband does not eat, replace milk with water. And generally speaking recipes there are many for Shteba, you can choose a varied menu.

15 minutes is not enough, still tough. It takes about 20 minutes (that's how much red / brown rice is cooked).
There is a lot of whole lemon, even for a double rate. Sour is creepy even with sugar, everything else does not even taste. IMHO a maximum of a quarter of a lemon.
And by the way, why is lemon and sugar not on the list of ingredients, since they are needed?
