Quote: 🔗
Coconut water is the liquid endosperm of the young fruit of the coconut tree. As the fruit ripens, droplets of oil secreted by copra enter the endosperm, and the liquid turns into coconut milk, then this milk thickens and hardens. Coconut water extracted from a fruit without cracks is sterile, there are cases of medical use when saline is not available.
Coconut water can be drunk directly from the coconut by punching a hole in the fruit with a sharp object. It must be drunk immediately after opening the fruit, as the coconut water quickly deteriorates under the influence of light. Coconut water is also packaged and sold in bottles, cans, or in the more sustainable Tetra Pak packaging that does not let in the sun.
Coconut water contains nutrients including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids, cytokinins. Coconut water is a source of minerals such as magnesium, calcium, potassium. It also contains zinc, selenium, iodine, sulfur, manganese, boron, molybdenum. Coconut water contains essential amino acids (valine, leucine, isoleucine, methionine, lysine, threonine, tryptophan, phenylalanine)
* I did not buy coconut water, I used the one that I drained directly from the coconut. I got about 120 ml, the missing volume of liquid was filled with non-carbonated mineral water. For sweeter lovers, instead of water, take fruit juice.
