Day and Night Cake

Ingredients

Dough:
Sugar 1 glass
Butter 1 tbsp. l.
Sour cream 1 glass
Soda (extinguish 1 tablespoon vinegar) 1 tsp
Flour 3 glasses
Cocoa 3 tbsp. l.
Cream:
Sour cream 3 glass
Sugar 1 cup
Glaze:
Sugar 8 Art. l.
Milk 4 tbsp. l.
Cocoa 6 tsp
Butter 100 g

Cooking method

  • Dough:
  • 1) Combine sugar, sour cream, soft butter and 1 cup flour in a bowl. Then, while the dough is still liquid, divide it into 2 equal parts. Add 3 teaspoons of cocoa powder to one half (this will be "overnight"). Then add a glass of flour to both sides of the dough.
  • 2) Divide the dough into 8 pieces (4 white and 4 chocolate), leave one, put the rest in the refrigerator: while the first is rolling, the rest will slightly harden.
  • 3) Roll out 8 cakes, thickness 0.5-1 cm (the thinner, the softer they are saturated with cream). I roll it out immediately on a sheet of baking paper sprinkled with flour. Bake the cakes for 5-7 minutes at 200aboutC, starting with light ones. When the cakes begin to brown around the edges, they are ready.
  • Cream:
  • 4) Beat the sour cream with sugar and generously coat the cakes with cream.
  • Glaze:
  • 5) Combine all the icing ingredients in a saucepan, bring to a boil over low heat, when it cools and begins to thicken - pour over the top cake layer. Let it soak for several hours in the refrigerator.

It turns out a very soulful homemade cake. To its taste, the author compares it to glazed cheese and I completely agree with that.
According to the recipe, 2 glasses of sugar are used in the cream, but one is enough for me.
For decoration, I used chocolate figurines and various sweets in chocolate: nuts, raisins, etc.

Your beautiful design of the cake inspired me to prepare it: I am not delighted with the cakes, they are tasteless; True, I did not put the dough in the refrigerator, I rolled it out on the table on top, covering it with cling film. After baking, the cakes are hard like cookies. My 5 and 8 year old tasters also showed no interest in the cake after tasting it. Some "poor student" in a new version.
