Ingredients

Water 250 ml
Wheat flour 350 g
Cane sugar 85 g
Salt 1 tsp
Powdered milk 1 tbsp. l.
Cinnamon 1 tsp
Nutmeg 0.5 tsp
Spice 2 tsp
Butter 50 g
Dried fruits 175 g
Dry yeast 1 tsp
Top:
Wheat flour 2 tbsp. l. + 2 tbsp. l. water
Sahara 4 tbsp. l. + 1 tbsp. l. water

Cooking method

  • First, I want to explain why the loaf is called a cross. Everything is extremely simple. 30 minutes before readiness, cross-shaped stripes are applied on top of the bread (a kind of Easter decoration).
  • Put all the ingredients (except dried fruits) in cotton in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Dried fruit s add on signal. Basic mode. The crust is "medium". Along with cinnamon and nutmeg, the following spices were added: ginger-0.5 tsp, turmeric-0.5 tsp, star anise-0.5 tsp, saffron-0.5 tsp. Well, this is of course a matter of taste
  • By the same principle, I added dried fruits: apples + raisins + figs.
  • Now about the top. To make stripes, you need to mix flour and water to make a smooth paste. Transfer to a plastic bag and cut off the corner. Further, as I wrote above. I omitted this item, well, I didn't want to draw stripes-crosses ...;) But I still mastered the watering. It will be easier there;) You need to put sugar in a saucepan, add water, bring to a boil, stir until the sugar is completely dissolved, then boil for 1-2 minutes. And pour the syrup over the already prepared warm (I poured it on the hot) loaf and spread it with a brush.
  • While I was writing, I remembered another such moment. In the watering, I replaced a tablespoon of water with an equal amount of lemon juice. And instead of cane sugar, I put the usual white.

I baked this loaf yesterday. The result is a beautiful, well-baked bread for tea. My eaters liked it., I put what I scraped along the bottom.
Well, in general it turned out what happened. Mine have almost finished ... and this suggests that the bread is still delicious.
P.S. I deeply apologize for the quality of the attached photograph, but for some reason I thought it was better than nothing ... although we all tend to make mistakes ...
