The descendant of the royal family was proud, he did not want to humiliate himself ...
How could Haman endure this ... Well, he decided - not only to punish Mordechai, but also to destroy all his fellow Jews at the same time, suddenly where else the descendants of the royal family would be found. He sang to Ahasuerus: "There is one people scattered all over the world, their religion is not like ours, they do not want to observe our laws. The king should not leave them alive." they drank, of course, and the tsar waved his hand - do what you want, they say.
Giggling, the lot (PUR) was thrown and the day fell for the execution of all Jews - 13 Adar. And they wanted not just to execute, but of course - to take possession of everything, to divide it up among themselves.
And they began to prepare places for destruction. The idea of ​​pogroms of gas stoves is not new.Such large-scale preparations became known to Mordechai and he came to his niece in mourning clothes.
And he said: "If you do not help your people at such a time, salvation will come to the Jews from the other side, and you and your father's house will be forgotten. Who knows if it was for this day that you ended up in the royal palace ?!" The queen fasted for three days and suffered ... The fact is that she did not have the right to be the first to speak and turn to the king in general ... But on the third day the decision came. She ordered to prepare a luxurious feast and invited the king. He certainly did not refuse. Drank, ate, softened ... (man! :). And the continuation of the banquet was probably not without it. Well, after all this, she managed to incite Ahshaverosh against Haman. And instead of exterminating the Jews, Haman hanged, and his 10 sons to boot. And he grabbed his property, but of course. And at the same time he allowed the Jews to stand up for themselves and deal with those who were preparing their death. And the property of the pogromists should be divided. And Mordechai went out of the palace in royal robes and a crown, and the Jews of Adar 14 gathered and put to death 300 people in Shushan, but they did not touch their property.
And throughout the empire, Jews killed 75,000 pogromists. And Mordechai wrote down this whole story, and sent letters to distant communities. Not really a pretty story. But you cannot erase a word from the song, and the question was - to live or to submissively substitute his head under the sword. They defended their lives and their children and were not the first to brew this mess ... And we honor this day as a holiday, and call it Purim (lot), for by lot Haman chose the day of the pogrom. But everything turned out differently, and mourning turned into fun.
And this holiday will remain with Jews forever, from generation to generation. Purim is the only Jewish holiday to be given a non-Hebrew name. On this holiday, it is customary to get drunk to such an extent that it would be impossible to distinguish between the words Aman and Mordechai. Bake pies with poppy seeds (in honor of the fact that Esther ate only nuts in the palace) and in the form of triangles (homentashi - Amman's ears). Arrange fun masquerades. Play out this ancient story in hilarious plays and send each other sweets as gifts.

I also baked this cake. The oven had 2 biscuits, as in the first one I started spinning and forgot to add butter. The biscuit was baked for more than the allotted time 20 minutes and turned out to be 3 cm high, the second biscuit was baked on half a portion (poppy was added to it not ground), baked for 10 minutes. Everything worked out!
The cake is delicious! With a pronounced poppy flavor and pleasant lemon sourness. Delicate, not dry (although the cakes are not saturated with anything). I collected the cake from these 2 biscuits, cut the first into 2 cakes. The photo shows that the cakes are different - the top 2 cakes are with ground poppy, and the bottom is with not ground. It was me who liked the cake with not ground poppy more, but in general for lovers of poppy pastry - this cake is a celebration of the soul and belly !!! I didn’t add chocolate. The cake turned out to be almost 1.5 kg, baked in a mold with a diameter of 24 cm.
