Greek meat with mint and prunes

Ingredients

beef 1 kg
onion 1 PC
carrot 1 PC
dry red wine 250 ml
ground coriander 1 tsp
ground cinnamon pinch
ground cloves pinch
prunes 150 g
tomato paste 2 tbsp
mint and dill 5 branches
olive oil
salt pepper

Cooking method

  • The recipe is taken from Bon Appetit magazine.
  • Beef with prunes, in my opinion, is a win-win option. There are many recipes, but they all differ in a set of certain spices. I have never added cinnamon and mint to meat, so I decided to try this cooking method. The meat turned out to be very tasty, unusually soft and aromatic. The main thing is not to overdo it with cinnamon. And I also did not have fresh mint on hand and put dry mint, but in the finished dish I did not "hear" it at all. Next time I will definitely put fresh mint.
  • Cut the beef into small pieces. Sprinkle with spices. Dilute the wine with 200 ml of cold water, pour over the meat and leave for 1 hour.
  • Cut onion into half rings, carrots into strips and fry in a saucepan.
  • Throw the meat in a colander, collect the marinade. Add meat to vegetables and fry on all sides.
  • Add marinade, let it boil, reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes.
  • Chop the prunes, finely chop the greens.
  • Add tomato paste, herbs and prunes to the meat. Add a little water if necessary and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • Serve with boiled or baked potatoes.
