I also adore stewed cabbage, after buying a slow cooker I made it 2 times already.
Only I don't put tomato paste, but sauerkraut for acid. I also add cumin and prunes. I put everything together with the fried onions immediately into a saucepan and after 2 hours I mix for the first time.
Well, a very rich and rich cabbage flavor! When stewed on the stove, this is not the case.

I came to say thank you for the recipe! I did it a little in my own way - I put frozen mushrooms and grated carrots immediately with cabbage / for dietary reasons /, fried only the onion, added grated nutmeg and caraway from spices, cut a fresh tomato, poured a little water. I cooked on HIGH for an hour and a half, then an hour on LOW. It turned out insanely delicious!

We are all not professionals here, but amateurs of cooking. As for the weight of the ingredients, I think you can do everything according to your taste and desire. For example, I don’t like stewed cabbage with carrots and I don’t put it, but you may love it. And from fresh cabbage, I would not cook it slowly. She is young now and fry quickly. It's my opinion
