Wheat Kamut

Pilaf "Five cereals" in the Oursson 5005 pressure cooker

Kamut (spelled, spelled) - the name "kamut" comes from the word that in ancient Egypt was called wheat. It is believed that Kamut is a distant ancestor of modern wheat, which has never been selected, with a high protein content. In the late 40s of the twentieth century, 36 grains of kamut were brought to Montana, and since then this wheat variety is grown in only one state under the trade name "Kamut". Kamut grains are 2-3 times larger than ordinary wheat grains and not only have a pleasant nutty flavor, but also contain much more nutrients than modern wheat grains. For comparison, kamut has:
- 29% more protein;
- 27% more lipids;
- 23% more magnesium;
- 25% more zinc;
- much more vitamin E;
- 16 amino acids with higher rates;
- Higher values in 8 out of 9 mineral salts found in regular wheat.
In most countries, kamut is marketed only in processed form. It is used in the preparation of pasta, air flakes, crackers. Due to limited production volumes, kamut products can only be found in health food stores. In the meantime, remember that kamut, like any other wheat, contains gluten, and people on a gluten-free diet should not include kamut in their diet.

Girls, THANK YOU!!!

Yes, pilaf is very satisfying due to such a composition of cereals, there was little meat. To taste, then cereal somewhere resembles stewed barley.

Galya, the mixture was bought in the supermarket, and is called "5 cereals". Yesterday I wanted to buy more - but, no, I have already sold out, I will wait for the appearance
