What to do with potatoes, markos and other vegetables, especially if there are a lot of them and they are stored on the balcony. Where to store canned vegetables, which are more than enough at home, and which take up space in cabinets, under the bed, etc.

This winter I have acquired a POGREBOK thermal container 71x40x80 cm of solid construction. (see description below).
While it was relatively warm outside, it was also relatively warm on the balcony, but now at -20 *, and the water on the balcony froze, turned on the CELLULAR and the temperature there is automatically maintained at + 8 *. And the banks are all in place, from the very autumn, they do not interfere anywhere underfoot. The temperature outside will rise, so that on the balcony it will be up to + 5-7 * (after all, heat comes from the kitchen), turn off the CELLULAR until it is needed again.

CELLAR FOR STORING VEGETABLES AND CANNED FOOD

The main task of any housewife, after the harvest is harvested, and part of it has already become marinades, pickles and compotes, is to preserve all this good, at least until the New Year. And if you're lucky, then until spring. Not all workpieces can be stored for long periods at room temperature. And all the more you can't take it out on the balcony - they will freeze. The same goes for potatoes, carrots, beets and other fresh vegetables.
Therefore, the hostesses either fill the refrigerator to capacity, or try to eat everything prepared for the winter as soon as possible, or rely on Russian at best.
An excellent solution to the problem of storing food during the cold period has become the POGREBOK thermocontainer developed in Russia, intended for installation on balconies, attics and other unheated rooms. Its overall dimensions are 71x40x80 cm, and the useful volume is 160 liters. Insulated metal body, stable construction, top loading. You put the jars in the container, put the vegetables, then just plug the "Cellar" into the mains, and all winter there is fresh food on your table. Now you are not afraid of frosts - a positive temperature of 4 - 7 degrees is automatically maintained inside the oven.
The invention is also unique in that the inside of the container is heated with constant air circulation, which eliminates the formation of condensation, and therefore prevents rotting and spoilage of products.
And one more important fact - the power consumption of the Pogrebok in heating mode is only 220 W. And due to good thermal insulation and the operation of the thermostat, even in severe frost, it will not overload the family budget.
The product is patented, has a certificate of compliance with GOST, sanitary and fire standards.

1. Option Thermocase "Cellar 160"

Thermal cabinet for food storage "Cellar 160". The oven is designed to prevent vegetables, fruits, flower tubers, canned food and other products from freezing at negative air temperatures. 2. option - "BALCONY CELLAR"

Flexible household thermocontainer "Balcony Cellar" allows you to store vegetables, jars of pickles, jams, dahlias, gladioli and other flowers on a glassed-in balcony or loggia in winter. In case of frost down to -40 ° C, a positive temperature will be automatically maintained in the cellar. With the help of an electronic thermostat, by pressing only two buttons, you can set the temperature from 0 to + 7 ° C, while the real temperature in the cellar will be displayed on the screen of the thermostat.
Structurally, the balcony cellar is made in the form of a soft insulated bag with electric heating. The double container is made of thick, beautiful tent fabric filled with padding polyester. The heating element (carbon filament) is located inside the insulation. The lid of the thermal container opens with a zipper.
Since the design is flexible, it is imperative to attach the balcony cellar to the wall, for which two dowels and screws are supplied in the kit.
In the spring, when the average daily temperature rises above 0 ° C, the balcony cellar is stowed away in a bag-cover. Previously, debris is removed from the container, wiped from the inside with a damp cloth or sponge, and dried.
Currently, balcony cellars are available in three versions: 300 l, 180 l and 100 l. (respectively, allow you to store 3 bags of potatoes, 2 bags and 1 bag).
Capacity 300 l. dimensions 100x80x40 power 220 W weight 3 kg
Capacity 180 l. dimensions 100x70x30 power 160 watts. Weight 2.5 kg
Capacity 100 l, dimensions 70x50x30, power 120 W, weight 1.5 kg.

Admin, thank you very much for the information. Just today I thought (after peeling the sprouted potatoes) about some box on the balcony, and here is your message.

Automatic system for maintaining the temperature inside the oven within the range from + 2 ° C to + 7 ° C.

And if the outside temperature is above zero - will it work like heating? That is, how much does the temperature inside it depend on the ambient temperature?

According to the passport, I must hold on stably, but I have to live until summer, and I don’t know why such tests should be carried out in the summer.
Now it is relatively warm on the balcony (and outside), T * keeps on the balcony + 10 *, and I disconnected the Cellar from the network, why e-mail. en. spend extra when the same T * holds both inside and outside the Cellar. It will be cold, I'll turn it on again. The cellar is so good that it can be turned on at the right time and maintain the required constant T *.
To store vegetables, a temperature of at least 0 or -2-3 * is sufficient, as in the refrigerator, but here + 7 *.
Whispering to vegetables and cans of canned food!

A very interesting thing. It will be necessary to take one to the dacha, otherwise the groundwater is close and you cannot dig an ordinary cellar, but here it is quite possible to put it in the underground. In Moscow, there is a 20 m2 cellar in the garage, so this is not a problem, but it will be quite useful there.

How many cans are you counting on in the country, have you seen the size of the cellar?

And it makes no sense for me to keep banks there, I will take all one main stock to Moscow to the garage in the basement. And so I want to keep a half-bag-bag of potatoes and something else in case of arrival.Lard in the switched off refrigerator hibernates without problems.

Is this thing relevant for the summer? Although the site says. that she only warms ...
And it costs 4500.

I don’t know, I didn’t work out with him. Last winter I bought 3 sacks of potatoes, stuffed them into this cellar on the balcony, set the lowest possible temperature, as a result, in a week everything !!! the potatoes sprouted and were thrown away. Well, I think I made a little sense here, checked everything again, put in two new sacks, after a week everything sprouted and was thrown away. The cellar itself is not at all constructively thought out, there are no baskets inside, it is pasted over with material so that when pulling out something heavy like a bag of potatoes you always peel off this foam material, the regulator looks like a refrigerator regulator (apparently it is), in general, a cheap craft cobbled together from what was. It stands on the balcony, takes up space, it is a pity to throw it away and cannot be used.
ubahobo
It uses a thermostat with a capillary sensor, so this sensor should be placed closer to the heating element (a couple of centimeters). Well, of course, turn the temperature regulator knob counterclockwise until it stops. You most likely have the sensor located poorly.

Such a thermostat is very cheap, since it uses a mechanical switching principle, its accuracy is low. But on the other hand, in the 'off' mode, it does not consume electricity (the indicator does not count).
This winter I will run over with a standard sensor, but for the next I am thinking of making an electronic thermostat

Good day! Admin, can you tell me how you are with the cellar? Conveniently?

Good day! Admin, can you tell me how you are with the cellar? Conveniently?

It is very convenient, especially for large workpieces and in winter, it is too cold on the balcony (even on harsh days), and the temperature in the cellar is normal
Medusa
Dear Admin!
When the box is completely sealed, excess moisture, which is the cause of condensation on the cold internal surfaces of this cellar, will still be present in the internal volume, no matter how much you drive the air inside with a fan that provides forced circulation. The purpose of the fan in such a cellar is to ensure an even distribution of the temperature set by the temperature sensor throughout the volume of the box.
However, as can be seen in the photo of this kind of cellars on the Internet, at the top of the ends of the box there are two holes through which the loops of the handles for carrying the cellar pass. As far as I understand, these holes are open when the handles are not used, and just serve to release excess moisture into the atmosphere during the operation of the cellar.
The question to you, as an experienced user of this device: am I right in my reasoning? Does condensation form inside a working cellar during a cold period, which can lead to rotting or accelerated germination, for example, of potatoes?
The question, however, is rather rhetorical, since he himself just ordered such a "miracle", more tired of carrying supplies from the balcony back and forth in anticipation of frost / thaw.
The answer can be in a personal. Appreciated in advance.

Why PM? I will answer here

This cellar has been on my balcony for about 5 years, it feels fine. Me too, looking at him

I didn’t think about the problems that you describe, because I didn’t notice this. I do not store potatoes and carrots with onions, since the game is not worth the candle, this stuff is enough in the store. I buy as much as I need for some time for cooking, according to the principle: let the store and vegetable stores deal with the bulkhead of vegetables and the removal of spoiled ones. And if you then calculate the cost of what was bought and sorted out during storage and eaten in reality, then the initial purchase cost will increase

I did not notice any condensation from storing cans. I turn on the cellar only when it is really very cold outside outside the window (the balcony is glazed). The temperature keeps well, the cellar works around the clock.I measured the temperature inside the cellar, it turns out about + 10-15 * C, and this is on a glazed loggia in frost outside, and it is cold on the balcony. Sometimes it was even necessary to reduce the temperature so that there was no excessive heat, even for cans.

The cellar is tightly closed, but not airtight - but it keeps warm.

Something like that

Kalyusya
And I have had such a cellar on the balcony for three years. I'm happy. There are all sorts of banks, a couple of potatoes. The basket has now been removed there, and then suddenly the weather will go wild, so ... just in case, so that they do not suddenly die.
Nobody sweats there, and there is no need to set a high temperature, and potatoes will not sprout.
Medusa
Information from Admin and Kalyusi accepted. Thank you!
Being an ardent adherent of products of natural, home origin and a fanatical gardener-gardener near Moscow, constantly in the fall I was faced with the problem of storing 1-2 bags of potatoes, 30-40 kg of carrots, beets + all kinds of flower tubers, as well as a dozen or so cans with various rolls that require for their storage optimal temperature 3-5 C and humidity 80-85%... The formation of condensation in the core of the storage is unacceptable, since in addition to a sharp reduction in the duration of dormancy, vegetables under such conditions are subjected to massive attacks of putrefactive and other pathogens.
I store jars of jam or compote with a high sugar content on a glassed-in balcony in the open - there they do not freeze even if it is -30 C outside (tested by many years of experience).
My vegetables and what is sold in stores and markets are, as you understand, heaven and earth. As for the prices and losses during storage, it is enough to ask about the price tags and ways of "prolonging freshness" in retail outlets with fanfare positioning themselves as "organic food stores" (at the same time, no one guarantees quality and environmental friendliness to you there, but in my garden I and the king, and God, and the chief sanitary doctor, together with the head of the Quality Control Department).
I hope now my new 200-liter balcony chest will save me from constant worries for the safety of the harvest and will provide my family with guaranteed useful products during the long winter months without significant additional costs.
If you need to modernize this unit, taking into account the experience of its operation, I will do it without any problems with my own hands and I will unsubscribe about important points over time.

which require for their storage optimal temperature 3-5 C and humidity 80-85%.

In winter, the glassed-in balcony is as cold as it is outside, well, not much warmer. Therefore, it is very difficult to create a temperature of 3-5 * C and a humidity of 80-85%.

I am satisfied that it is warm in the cellar, the temperature can be adjusted lower / higher, the banks do not freeze through and there is no condensation on them
Medusa
The first thing that I did with my balcony cellar, as soon as I saw it and installed it on the balcony, was pasted over the entire inner surface, made by idiot designers from crumbling and dirty "packing" foam with sheet foil insulation with foil inside (to reflect heat into the inner volume of the cellar, increase its efficiency and improved performance in terms of resistance to mechanical stress and easier cleaning). Naturally, he retained all the ventilation holes provided for by the design.
I fixed the balloon and the temperature sensor tube on this rigid insulation so that they did not hang around the entire inner space, did not interfere with loading / unloading the cellar and recorded the temperature at a certain point.
The practice of the first frosts has shown that the chest EXCELLENT keeps the set temperature at +4 ... + 6 С throughout the volume.
Let's see if everything will be when winter begins to rage ...

Good evening!
Found your review about the cellar .. you bought it as I understand it for five years already. What do you say now, a worthwhile thing? Is it worth buying root vegetables for storing vegetables on the balcony?
Admin
If there are a lot of fresh vegetables and cans, then it's worth it.It keeps the temperature well. And I didn't change anything in it.
Yes, worth it anyway. I had it completely clogged with cans, on a cold balcony - the flight was normal
Astroway
With cans it's good .. but I'm just interested in vegetables such as potatoes, mokos and beets ..

At one time, I also considered the issue of such a cellar. As a result, we bought separately our domestic device for maintaining the temperature (if necessary, I can look for data on what kind of animal it is), and the cabinet itself was made as it is convenient for us. It turned out much more budgetary and more convenient.
It has been standing on the glassed-in balcony for 5 years already. The flight is normal.
Admin
You can set the temperature you want, + 5-8 * C is quite enough for storing vegetables.
More information can be found at the manufacturer of the cellars.

Of course, it's good when there is a person in the house who can do this, but for the inept, only buy from the skilled

Lind @
Well, we are not very good either.

I also follow the topic. I would like to preserve everything grown as much as possible.
After reading the reviews, I realized that such an oven is best suited for cans with blanks, like Tatyana's.
For vegetables - only for the first time. But the operation itself is not very convenient due to insufficient workmanship.

Review: Thermal cabinet Cellar - you can use
Advantages:
performs its functions
Disadvantages:
not the best Russian product
The design and manufacture of the "Pogrebok-3M" oven was clearly fulfilled for the "satisfactory" assessment with many disadvantages.
I will list these cons:
1. It is not clear how and how to glue the thermal sensor.
2. In the instructions for the oven, there is no method for setting the storage temperature of food.
3. There is no additional foam plastic lining (inside the thermo-oven), because when loading products, the foam is crumbled.
4. The temperature regulator is not well located for viewing.
5. The mains cable is very short and poorly located (should be near the back wall).
6. The feet of the oven must be adjustable.
7. The declared forced ventilation is absent in the design of the heating cabinet, since the installed fan serves only as a uniform heat distributor in the internal volume of the heating cabinet.

Conclusions:
1. Given the imperfections, the price of this product, in my opinion, is overpriced. I paid with delivery - 6020 rubles.
2. The listed design flaws of the oven may complicate its operation.

Before starting the operation of the oven, I, on my own initiative, pasted the foam plastic with foil-clad insulation from the inside, and glued the thermal sensor with tape (not very reliable). Also, according to his method, he established the required storage temperature for vegetables and other products.
My impressions of the oven were presented at the beginning of its operation - December 2014.
Year of issue / purchase: 2014

Now I read it on the Internet, new models have already appeared, in which all the previously listed shortcomings have been eliminated, and there are several options for different volumes and locations, there are both vertical and horizontal.
All products have an inner lining made of galvanized metal and have no restrictions on product placement, as well as on cleaning - the working surface is wiped with a damp cloth.
No open knots - all equipment is hidden behind the casing, nothing sticks out, dirt does not accumulate anywhere.
Products are guaranteed to retain their harvest at temperatures down to -40 ° C, below temperatures are very rare and, as a rule, such frosts are not long, but our product can cope with such low temperatures due to more intensive work and heating elements distributed over the entire surface.
They offer a wider range of products, including year-round chests and all-season wardrobes, light and cheap plastic winter chests and classic cellars with metal outer sheathing that cannot be pierced with a finger.
We offer not only various sizes of typical products, but we can also fulfill the order according to the individual sizes of the client.
The power cord for all products is at least 5 meters long.
The company has been manufacturing and selling home vegetable stores for more than 10 years - "Cellar on the Loggia".
Warranty for all units is 12 months.

on the Site Cellar on the loggia of the Russian Federation. Don't think of it as an advertisement, I'm just looking for myself and came across, and there are not only heated, but also all-season options, probably such as a refrigerator on the balcony.

The site indicates the city of Novosibirsk and there is even a video with a demonstration, although this chest is ugly, just greetings from the 80s
Paul I
Perhaps too small. I only have 150 liters of apple juice and about 60 liters of pickled cucumbers. Well, everything else is the same. And all this does not really like warmth.
I insulated the balcony and put a small radiator for 700 watts. And all winter he keeps my temperature around 3-5 degrees.
The result is a "cellar" with a volume of 12 cubic meters.
afnsvjul
Paul, Thank you!!!

Pavel, thanks !!!
Yes, not at all. Use it to your health. By the way, given that it is good for us to have frosts for a month, this heating works for a month and usually works for two weeks. The rest of the time the window to the street is just open and the temperature on the balcony is slightly higher than the outside temperature. Well, it doesn't hurt much in terms of electricity consumption. For the whole winter, well, maybe an extra 1000 rubles runs up.
Sometimes in severe frosts, I also leave the door to the balcony ajar. My room is warmed up to 25. It's hot even in winter. So the balcony is additionally heated and the room becomes cooler. And since the accuracy of the temperature is not very important, I keep it somewhere around 3 to 7 degrees Celsius. I control the temperature at several points with the simplest digital Chinese thermometers with Ali.
Irina Dolars
I also thought to make a banal heating of the glazed loggia. So there will be more storage space.
The radiator "eats" a lot. There are plenty of frosts in Siberia! And you need to adjust the optimal temperature so that there are no big jumps.

Paul, and you made the wiring to the balcony or stretched the cord?
Then the door won't close until the end

Of course it is. The consumption will be higher. But not critical, in my opinion. However, "practice is the criterion of truth" and you decide.

Initially, during the renovation, I made the wiring, lighting, and warm floor on the balcony. But the warm floor turned out to be much more voracious than a low-power radiator.
