The dough is very light milky in color, almost white. Therefore, it is beautifully painted in different colors. In the photo, the cookies were assembled as a constructor from the dough of three colors - white and two shades of pink. And then it was baked. I spied on this technique on the "Cook" website.

The original recipe contains 150g of starch and 200g of flour. I did not like these proportions (the starch was very felt) and I changed the starch / flour ratio by 1/4, as in cake flour. The cookies tasted better.

Bon Appetit!

Husky
Lena, thank you for the beautiful cookies and an interesting recipe.
I just can't understand. Why do you have them pink and red? To say that this is icing is unlikely. Mastic? yes, it seems, too, no. Did you add color to the dough? Or is there another explanation for this cookie color?
lenkor
Of course, I tinted the dough. The dough itself is almost white, milky in color. Especially for Valentine's Day, I searched the Internet for a recipe for an almost white dough so that I could tint it with pink. Stained with gel red dye. Then she cut out hearts from different colors and folded cookies like a designer.

Now I will add to the recipe. And then really, the photo posted a multi-colored cookie. In Temka about decorating cookies, I described this nuance, but here I missed it.

Very nice and beautiful cookies, lenkor, Thank you ! But, probably, it would be clearer if you posted step-by-step photos. Maybe next time ?
Medusa
Honestly - I liked it and even very much!
Everything about them is tender: taste, aroma, color and consistency.
And when I looked at the ratio of publications and grateful reviews, I could not believe my eyes !!!

Tell me: can I replace corn starch with potato starch? I wanted to bake now, the corn was over.

I haven't tried it, honestly. Everywhere in the confectionery I use only corn.

I baked Easter cookies using this recipe:

Lena, tell me please, how long can such cookies be stored without losing quality? Over time, does it not "dub"?

I can't answer this question exactly, we have these cookies flying away in a day. But I suppose it dubs like any sandy one. Tomorrow I'll hide the remaining couple of pieces and conduct an experiment.

A happy accident (or rather my multiple sclerosis) helped us, and I can now answer that question.
The first post in the photo is a cookie that I made for Valentine's Day. I made and decorated a lot of cookies then, I set aside some for the family, and so that the cookies would not get confused under my hands, I put them on trays in an electric dryer and closed them with a lid. And I forgot about him !!!

Yesterday my husband and I bought strawberries for drying. I open the electric dryer (I didn't use it for its intended purpose in winter) to decompose the strawberries. And what do I see? Several pallets of garnished Valentine's biscuits.
In general, we laughed at my sclerosis and tried the cookies. Girls, not at all stunned! Delicious! It lasted 3.5 months, and it tasted like it baked yesterday.

We had a tea party with cookies to the accompaniment of strawberry aroma from an electric dryer.

Class! Thanks for the info, I will bake! (I was already going, but I want to do it "with a margin")

Hi Irisha! Join in, welcome to the Bread Maker. It's warm, friendly, tasty and cozy here.

lenkor, Lena, I have already opened my mouth to your cookie. Can you tell me how many cookies are made from a portion? If I have rectangles 9 * 9 cm, will there be many?

Elechka, it depends on the thickness of the dough rolling. The larger the cookie size, the thicker it needs to be made. But in principle, cookies are light. I always knead 2 servings, it turns out a lot of cookies. True, we eat it very quickly.
By weight, one portion of raw dough weighs about 700 g. When baking, of course, there is a loss of weight.
Elya_lug
lenkor, Lena, thanks. I will try, the superfluous will definitely not be lost.

Good luck! Then write how many pieces you can get.
Elya_lug
Yes, Len, I will definitely do it at the end of the month.
Elya_lug
Lena, less than half a year has passed since I made it, delicious, tender, snow-white. Although it is visible and fried, but I was distracted and the temperature climbed up.

Don't you need baking soda or baking powder?
geisika
and it interests me. Well, I mean soda and baking powder? Is it still possible to replace corn starch with potato?
Violochka
I added a pack of baking powder, there were no bubbles.

Thanks for the recipe, these are the valentines we got with our 7th son. Indeed, without baking powder (soda), it turned out to be very delicate and crumbly. Now the main thing is that they live up to the arrival of dad (otherwise they "leave" very quickly) I had potato starch, they were quite successful in replacing corn starch. Only my condensed milk was not quite white (or not at all white), so ideally white cookies did not work out
ledi
The baking of gingerbread products and their sale just ended yesterday. Now I also want to try to make and decorate these cookies. Then I will report

that's what happened to me. I liked the colored

Good afternoon, cooks! I'm new here, but I really liked the recipe and the looks of the cookies. I did, but a question arose. The dough turned out to be very soft, I put everything according to the recipe. It was difficult to transfer to a baking sheet, as a result it turned out uneven. Maybe you need to put more flour?

Didn't try to do it on baking paper right away? No carryover - all the paper on a baking sheet - and bake!
odlenusik
Next time I'll try it right away on paper. Thank you.
Natkos
Girls, hello! And for some reason I got solid, I still have to try with a ripper.
lenkor
Girls, thanks for sharing your experience.

I never put baking soda and baking powder in these cookies. I do it exactly according to the recipe. The cookie is always tasty, absolutely not hard, but not brittle, which is very important for decorating cookies.

I always roll out and cut out cookies (from any dough) immediately on paper. Otherwise, any cookie from any dough will deform during transfer.

Do not add any more flour. Put the dough in the refrigerator for an hour, then work with it.

Good luck and bon appetit.

lenkor,
Lenochka! I came to you with great gratitude for the recipe for this cookie.
The cookies are just super, the dough is very easy to prepare and I really liked the cookies
And most importantly, this dough was suitable both for dies (the drawing holds well), and for the press for Marcato cookies
Only I replaced 30 grams of flour with 30 grams of cocoa and got chocolate chip cookies.
And yes ... there were leftovers of corn starch, only 30 grams, so the rest of the starch was potato.

, how did you make double hearts?
Bake two cookies of the same size, one of which is tinted with dye, and the other has a hole inside a smaller mold. When cool, glue with jam.
Olga VB
Girls, in the recipe it is recommended to roll out the dough to 3-4 mm, but has someone tried it thicker?
If you do half an egg, will it be baked? In general, what is the maximum thickness that will normally bake and won't the edges turn out to be more tanned at different thicknesses?
FelixFelicis
What an amazingly beautiful cookie!
I will definitely try to do it and unsubscribe.
and an amateurish question about mosaic cookies - how to make them "melt" when baking? Once I tried it from ordinary shortcrust pastry - even tightly pressed pieces after baking remained separate elements. I sin on excess flour in the dough, but I'm not sure. Maybe you need to lubricate the joint with something for reliability?
Ekaterina2
lenkor, thank you very much - such delicious cookies! 5 minutes for kneading, 5 minutes for rolling and slicing (rolled, cut and baked on a Teflon mat). And a whole plate of cookies. Class
Albinka (Alya)
lenkor, Lena, I'm bringing you a report! the cookies are very tasty, the dough is soft, I made it with my little sons, everyone is happy !!!! We will do it repeatedly !!!
The only thing is I will slightly reduce the starch and replace it with flour. It won't get worse, will it?

Good day. Please tell me at what stage is it better to add dyes?

Added on Friday 16 Dec 2016 4:06 PM

something is clearly wrong. please tell me what's the catch?

Mom Tanya
Arinushka12, most likely, the sugar has not dissolved, the dough has not been mixed.
Arinushka12
Tatyana, made a new batch without rushing, it turned out to be an excellent cookie. today we will collect Christmas trees with our daughters. And dad asked not to put dyes - it's scary to eat brightly)

I keep forgetting to say thank you for this recipe
A lifesaver, when cake toppers are needed, but, for example, very young one-year-old children and ginger dough will not be relevant.
Or how recently there was a customer with an allergy to honey - how she praised them. Thank you!!!
