Kozinaki made from puffed rice

Kozinaki made from puffed rice

Ingredients

Puffed rice 100 g
Sugar 4 tbsp. l.
Honey 1 tbsp. l.
Lemon juice 1/2 tsp

Cooking method

  • I began to cook kozinaki in the usual way, but my hands themselves stuck Christmas trees from the prepared mass, well, where with them, if not here, on the New Year theme?
  • Add 1-2 tbsp to the sugar. l. water, honey and lemon juice and cook with constant stirring until thickened. To check the readiness of the syrup, I have a test: I drip the syrup into cold water, and if it does not spread, but keeps the shape of a dense ball, it’s ready! Pour the hot syrup into a bowl with puffed rice, mix quickly and use our hands moistened with cold water to give the dessert, so beloved by all children (and not only), the necessary shape!

Wow ! What a charm, and most importantly, it seems not difficult! I immediately remembered childhood! Thank you Dopletochka!

All that remains is to find this puffed rice. And where you need to look for it, you will not tell

In the dry breakfast departments, Vasilika... But it doesn't happen often. Usually puffed rice in chocolate catches the eye, and plain rice is, alas, a rarity. You live in the Primorsky district, right? In K-ruokka it is for sure!

Larochka, well, your fantasy works!

I'm wondering, but puffed wheat is not good for rice?

In our general store, there is such a blockage:

Kozinaki made from puffed rice

There is the same, but with the taste of caramel ...

Innus, yeah, there are a lot of different kinds of breakfasts, their eyes run wide. But they are already all usually sweet - either with honey, or with caramel, or with chocolate. And for your own, homemade kozinak, you need savory. And in childhood we did it from puffed rice, then there were no more puffed flakes, except for rice and corn. They boiled caramel, poured it, stirred it, laid it out on a board soaked in water, patted it on top with palms also moistened with water, and cut it into squares.

dopleta, what kind of rice did you use? Today I discovered puffed rice, but it already has a caramel flavor. I bought two packs just in case. So mine swooped down and devoured everything, my husband was in the forefront. So the rice did not live up to the Kozinak.
Was yours too sweet or tasteless?

Was yours too sweet or tasteless?
No, mine was insipid, Vasilika. But still not the same as the one from which we made kozinaki in childhood. That one tasted better.
