Oranges in chocolate

Oranges in chocolate

Ingredients

medium sized oranges 7 pcs.
sugar 650 gr.
water 300 ml
dark chocolate 250 gr.

Cooking method

  • Very, very tasty, insanely fragrant and beautiful sweets! They are very easy to do, but they take time and attention. Now I understand why a kilogram of such sweets in a very prestigious Greek confectionery costs 45 euros!
  • Cut the oranges into 0.5 cm thick slices.
  • Oranges in chocolate
  • Boil water in a wide saucepan. put oranges in it and cook for 5 minutes. to remove the bitterness from them.
  • Throw in a colander and let the water drain very well.
  • Boil the syrup from sugar and water, when it boils, add oranges to it, bring to a boil, reduce heat and cook for 2 hours.
  • Oranges in chocolate
  • Finished oranges have a clear peel and amber color. Place the orange circles on a wire rack.
  • Oranges in chocolate
  • And place in an oven heated to 120 "C for 20 minutes so that they dry out. I dried for 15 minutes, then turned over to the other side and dried for another 15 minutes.
  • Oranges in chocolate
  • Let the oranges cool. Melt the chocolate in the steam bath and cover half of the circle with it. Place on a sheet of baking paper and set at room temperature.
  • Oranges in chocolate
  • Store in a cool place in a closed container.
  • Oranges in chocolate
  • Although it is unlikely that you will succeed!
  • Oranges in chocolate
  • Because, honestly and honestly, it's awesomely delicious!
  • Oranges in chocolate
  • Help yourself!
  • Oranges in chocolate

Gael
Natasha, no words! I'm taking it to bookmarks. I'll do it for the holidays. Thank you!!!
lesik_l
I want to clarify: only 1 side of an orange half is covered with chocolate? Or should you dip a slice of orange?
I really want to make such sweets
Leska
Natasha, what another beauty you have !!! And after cooking, you just need to put the oranges in a colander? Why am I asking - I once saw in another night program that after boiling water, oranges were dipped into ice ...
Kamusik
My bookmarks are already popping with your recipes! Life is not enough to do everything.
Gael
That's for sure! And one is better than the other, it's just not clear which one to grab

Natulechka, photos as always !!!

Did similar oranges, very tasty, yes !!!
alenaroma
Will there be anything left of them after 2 hours?
Grypana
And if you try to neatly cut the crusts off without fanaticism? I really need the crusts, but the oranges remain. And the sweets will be softer.

Gael-Katyusha - thank you very much!

lesik_l-Alena - you need to dip the slice so that the chocolate is on both sides!

Leska - you just need to flip it into a colander and squeeze a little to make the water better glass!

Kamusik-Tanya! I have almost 1000 recipes in my collection, so get ready !!

MariS Marina, I had already planned to make these sweets for a very long time, all my hands did not reach, but here I needed a gift to Russia, so I got ready!

Understood the task !!! - It's too early for us to die, we still have things to do at home!
Kamusik
I forgot to ask, Natasha, and your oranges were of what size (I understand that you did not weigh them), otherwise I bought today ... they are from medium to huge. I was puzzled by the ratio of sugar to weight of an orange, everything else is nonsense ...
natapit
Krosha-Inna!, Thank you! I think you are not against another recipe!

There are 5-6 pieces per kilogram, but take into account the waste (the edges do not go)! and it is better to take an even smaller size (120-150 g), large ones do not look very nice in sweets!

Alyon, as far as I can see the first candies are coated normally. apparently the chocolate then thickened. you just need to warm it up. and if you add water or cream. then the chocolate will be sticky! thanks for the nice photo report !!!

Natasha, and make the syrup from new water or from the one that was boiled for oranges?
alenaroma
Natasha, and another question at the same time: can you reuse the syrup?
May @
Girls who have already made sweets, tell me the answer to my question, otherwise the oranges are already boiled.

I poured new water, thinking that there was bitterness from the crusts ...
Kamusik
Yes, yes - new!
I think you can do it again too!
natapit
Thanks for the help!

We take new water for the syrup! The syrup in which the oranges were cooked (I almost don't have it left!) Can be used!

The taste is of course DIVINE, there is nothing to say. But making them is confusing.
Rings seemed to cut 5 mm, but for some reason many fell apart, they dried in the oven for a very long time, at least an hour. But if you cut a little thicker, then they will dry longer. I got them about the density of dried apricots, maybe it was necessary to make them softer, I don't know directly. For some reason, the chocolate was thick, I couldn't dip it, I covered it with a teaspoon.

Oranges in chocolate

Natasha, I have carried you "+" for now, but you still comment on my actions, maybe I did something wrong?
natapit
Maina, thank you very much!

Rings seemed to cut 5 mm, but for some reason, many fell apart it all depends on the density of the pulp of the oranges, they come right with voids, so they creep up when boiled!

dried in the oven for a very long time, at least an hour - and these are the features of your oven!

about the density of dried apricots - so it's a kind of candied fruit. they should be like that, not a slob!

For some reason, the chocolate was thick, it was impossible to dip it, I covered it with a teaspoon - there are many reasons: the quality of the chocolate, you overheated it or it got cold and you had to warm it up a little!

But making them is confusing. easily. you can't catch a fish from a pond! everything that would not cook takes time, diligence and attention. even fast food!

Was the debriefing okay? And the sweets turned out to be very beautiful and shiny!
Kamusik
And it seems to me that there is nothing confusing, just a new recipe, no habit. IMHO. But about drying, I want to share how I did it. When after the first 15 minutes. there was no visible result, I turned them over and put them on convection. Everything worked out quickly and perfectly. I will also cut a little thicker.
Freken Bock
natapit, divine !!!
May @
I draw conclusions for myself.
I didn’t take large oranges, but I need to choose an even smaller size, cut a little thicker, maybe I overdid it somewhere, cut thinly. She put a baking sheet in the oven under the grate so that it would not drip to the bottom of the oven and this probably increased the drying time, although not a fact. But there is no convection in the oven.
natapit
Maina, about the baking sheet is not a fact, I also substituted and I did not use the convention ... Okay. it's still beautiful and tasty! but it will be perfect next time!

Kamusichka, well done, share our experience, everything will come in handy!

Freken Bok - thank you so much!
Iramir
I tried to cook, the sweetness turned out to be insanely tasty! Thanks for the recipe
It is necessary to use small oranges, otherwise I only had large ones, and some of the slices turned out to be not beautiful.
It will look very beautiful on the festive table!
AlenaT
Yesterday we were also preparing for the New Year :-)
The oranges were good, small, dense,
not boiled and dried well by convection.
We got such gummies :-)
Natasha, question: there is a lot of syrup left after two hours of cooking.
Where can it be applied?
But it tastes a little bitter.
And so the smell is lovely :-)
Thanks for the New Year's surprise :-) :-) :-)
Kamusik
I am sure that Natasha will think of something !!! In general, you can attach to the impregnation of cakes! But that will be another story !!!
natapit
thanks girls! you can make a wonderful drink from syrup by adding lemon juice and mint! can be used to soak cakes, it keeps great in the refrigerator!

A New Year's tale about a greedy hostess!

One greedy hostess saw a recipe for a low-cost candy recipe, and was terribly happy! "Saving, so saving" - decided the hostess, having found half-dried oranges in a vase. She decided to skip the decoction step, and immediately put the orange slices in the boiling syrup. After 1 hour and 15 minutes, the syrup began to darken suspiciously. The hostess turned off the stove, took out one wedge and found that the syrup had caramelized. She took out the remaining slices and arranged them on a plate. The hostess poured the rest of the caramel into spoons so that it froze there (which happened) - this is how the hostess saved on sweets for her grandson. The caramel adhered to the slices in a dense layer so that nothing had to be dried in the oven - again, savings! The hostess also decided to save money on chocolate, but the sweets looked very beautiful even without it! True, when eaten, they stuck to the teeth, and the crust could not be gnawed.

Moral: if you want sweets for 45 euros - don't be greedy!

Grypana
I made such sweets. I used a slow cooker. Report here https://Mcooker-enn.tomathouse.com/index.php@option=com_smf&topic=147095.0

Conclusion - oranges are needed less unambiguously in size, but the taste does not change from this. Recipe
