Bread "Christmas star"

Bread Christmas Star

Ingredients

wheat flour 350 g
water 210 ml
honey 10 g
salt 5 g
fresh yeast (dry yeast) 8 gr (1 sachet)
egg yolk 1 PC.
sour cream 1 tsp

Cooking method

  • Dissolve yeast in a little warm water with honey. Pour yeast into flour and add water. When the water has been absorbed, add salt and knead a soft dough. You need to knead for at least 10 minutes. You will notice how after 5 minutes the dough begins to change its structure and becomes soft and silky. Leave the dough to rise warm until it doubles in volume.
  • I did the dough kneading in a bread maker on the "dough" mode - 1.5 hours.
  • Sit down the risen dough and transfer to the work surface. Cut the dough into 10 equal pieces. To do this, roll it into a sausage. Cut off the edges of the sausage, about 1 cm each (we will need them later).
  • Roll each of the 10 pieces into a rope about 40 cm long. Each rope should be thinned to the edges. It is convenient to roll out by weight, starting from one edge. The bulk will stretch itself under the weight. We get 10 harnesses.
  • Bread Christmas Star
  • Each tourniquet must be folded in half, like a horseshoe, and laid out the folded tourniquets in a circle to make the sun, on baking paper the size of a baking sheet.
  • Bread Christmas Star
  • Now you need to divide all the "rays" into 5 parts. Each of the five parts will consist of 4 rays.
  • Bread Christmas Star
  • Next, you should braid a braid from every 4 rays. To do this, you first need to cross the central harnesses. Then put the leftmost one on top. And the extreme right is placed underneath.
  • Bread Christmas Star
  • The central harnesses are crossed again.
  • Bread Christmas Star
  • Continue in the same order: the central harnesses cross each other, and the side harnesses are superimposed on them - one on top, the other on the bottom.
  • Bread Christmas Star
  • Continue braiding until the very end. Tuck the ends down. We get a beautiful wide braid.
  • Bread Christmas Star
  • Repeat this with all remaining harnesses. Get five star rays.
  • There will be a small hole in the center. It needs to be filled. To do this, those two pieces of dough that we cut off from the edges of the sausage at the very beginning, you need to roll out into a strip and cut one edge at the strip. Fold the strip into a flower. Place the flower in the hole of the star. You can roll a small ball for the very center.
  • Bread Christmas Star
  • Place the finished star on a baking sheet. Leave to proof for 20 minutes. Beat the yolk with a spoonful of cream and grease the star. I greased the star with yogurt and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Bake at 180 ° until it is browned (30 minutes).

Note

Such a star can decorate your festive table, and it is also very cool to present it as a gift!
Let this star give everyone a smile and dreams about the upcoming fairy tale of New Year and Christmas !!!

chaki2005
Vitalinochka, thank you for such beauty !!
How much live yeast?
Vitalinka
chaki2005, Thank you!

Live yeast 8 gr.
chaki2005
And with dry as then. It is written that 1 sachet. And the bags are different and 7 and 8 and 12g. And the ratio of live to dry? Or am I misunderstood or confused?
Vitalinka
chaki2005, I used live yeast 8 grams, and in the original recipe 1 sachet of dry was written. Based on the fact that for 100 g of flour there is 2-2.5 g of live yeast, I took 8.The dough fit well and was a pleasure to work with.

Vitalinka, thank you for this beauty! Make it for Catholic Christmas! Relatives will gather, because the second half has Jam Day!
Weaving is clear to me, more than once I have woven Braids.
but for the "especially gifted"

To do this, roll those two pieces of dough into a strip and cut one edge of the strip. Fold the strip into a flower.

can you chew this little thing in more detail?
And another such question))) does the butter turn out? its like mona bread or like pie? if it's like pie ... then I think it won't work. will be waiting for the cake!
inucya
Vitalinka, a star is a beauty, it is necessary to weave such a thing !!!!!!!
Vitalinka
nila, not like a pie! Just delicious crispy bread.
And the middle - you need to roll out a piece of dough in a strip and on one side of the strip make cuts of 5-6 pieces to the middle of the strip, and then connect the edges of the strip, pick up the side without cuts, it will look like a flower. Insert it in the middle of the star. You can just make a ball and cover the middle of the star with it. Is it clear ?
Vitalinka
inucya, Thank you!
nila
This is so clear: lol: but I understood not the side, but cut the edge!
So like bread! then go instead of a loaf!

You didn’t fall asleep, the weaving is still visible! Did you wrap the rays because they didn't fit on the baking sheet? But also an interesting option turned out!
Thank you for such a beautiful report!
olesya26
Yes, I was carried away by the rays, they turned out to be long and the asterisk could not fit in the baking sheet, I had to wrap it up, when I made such a pleasure I got from work, I will make more toko sesame, I will take just a little

And when you weave a pigtail, then try not to pull it out, but to make it wider, as it were.
olesya26
So I did not pull the pigtail, but overdid it with the flagella

Vitalinka does not leave me your inspiration. I liked so much to weave braids from dough, though today I braided one braid and wrapped it in a ring and it turned out to be such a DELICIOUS BRAID. (I tried to cook condensed milk in the microwave, I digested it. Now we have a braided cake with condensed milk)
Vitalinka
olesya26, wow, what a wonderful braid! Well done !!!
