Dear forum users and members of the forum!
Recently my husband and I bought a small house in the village for a summer residence. A wood-burning stove was discovered in the house ... a working ... an oven in it. I have no experience of "communication" with this "beast". I appeal to experts: help me master a new "device"! Share your experience of what and how to cook deliciously on it! In general, I will be grateful for any advice ...

Due to circumstances, we have been living in a country house with stove heating for 2 years already. I usually cook on a gas and electric stove, as well as in a variety of kitchen appliances. But when it's -20 outside, fingers freeze to the cupboards in the unheated kitchen. The other day I was cooking soup on the stove. Its main disadvantage is that the adjustment is delayed by an hour. At first, the soup did not boil in any way, but while I was picking up the child from school, I ran away (soup, not a child). Then the soup was cooked well until the stove went out. I cooked on gas for 5 minutes. stove.
I constantly heat food on the stove (from above, not in the oven), make pizza and hot sandwiches in a frying pan under the lid. You can fry eggs, frozen semi-finished products - everything that does not require precise adjustment and a long time. It's hard to be around a hot stove all the time. On a not very hot stove (or on a metal stand) I dry the washed raisins. I'm drying my nuts. You can heat food in porcelain dishes on a warm stove. I think you can bake apples, fry pancakes and pancakes. Boil soup (not mashed potatoes), potatoes, eggs. We also have a large pot of water constantly standing on our stove - for hot water (only under the lid, and do not bring it to a boil, otherwise it becomes difficult to breathe in the room).
In the oven, the husband bakes small jacket potatoes in oil. I have tried baking pies, but without much success - the heat cannot be controlled.
When we didn’t have gas cylinders and the electricity was cut off, even tea could only be made on the stove (in the summer, over a fire).
The main thing is to warm up the house after a long absence only with a stove, warm floors, for example, cannot cope with this (although they significantly improve the situation in winter). In general, the "animal" is cute, cozy and homey!
