Ladies!
Maybe overlooked - then poke your nose ... but who and what is doing with dried cucumbers ??? Dried - many .. the question - WHY ??? I read it in the internet - for medicinal purposes they brew instead of weed for some diseases ... cosmetics are an additive ... In Ukraine they sell dried pickles ... the recipe is a national military secret ... I don't know what it is, but I suppose something from the category of chips .. maybe even delicious ..
What else do they do with them? Soaked in salad in winter? soaked somehow not very appetizing ...

I just decided to try to make dried cucumbers in the image and likeness of dried zucchini, as they (cucumbers) somehow ended at once. Husband's idea. It seems to me that it can turn out interesting, they are also bland. Only you need to cut them plump, and here it is absolutely impossible to digest: stand nearby and WATCH. Has anyone tried doing this? Maybe an idea isn't worth a damn eggs cucumber?
Admin
The idea is worth it if you have any idea what might happen - our tastes are completely different
For example, I do not accept cucumbers with sugar, but wilting - maybe it will be delicious

Try to do at least a few pieces on trial, then it will be clear "do I need it?"

I also did not know what would turn out from zucchini, but I remembered that I like to stew zucchini with lemon and sugar in a saucepan - and this is how the recipe for these zucchini was born

It's clear that the husband.
Well, here they are, salted and dried. I sprinkled the cut cucumbers with salt at the rate of 2 tbsp. l / kg and left in a saucepan to drain off the liquid. I poured about 200 g of water from a kilogram through the night.
Put it to dry without cooking. Here - before drying and the final ones - here, in the photo.
Dried cucumbers, dried (salted and sweet)
The taste is interesting. Salt should be noticeably less, but I'm afraid - then the osmotic pressure during the addition will be too low and the water from the cucumbers will hardly be drawn off. Or maybe this is not so important. We can do without draining with only one dryer.

Here are the watermelon peels, as the season began, I didn't throw out a single one. Already from four watermelons for sweet jerky.

The last time, instead of lemon, I brewed three sour, unripe Antonovkas (they went into mashed potatoes). It turned out great too.
And I spend the syrup on ice cream.

Something seems to me, as if sweet radish should be tasted. Not black, but daikon or margelan. After all, they eat the same radish with honey. And not only as a medicine. The season will come ...

It seems to me that the cucumbers will turn out well sugary-dried, they are bland in taste, sugar can go well with them.

And about radish, turnips and daikon - see here Turnip and kohlrabi chips https://Mcooker-enn.tomathouse.com/index.php@option=com_smf&topic=143692.0

Made cucumbers - in the image and likeness of zucchini. With candied lemon only. I took overgrown cucumbers, which, apparently, already wanted to become zucchini. But. I haven't tried them. I thought about it and cut it. The butts turned out to be bitter ... After cooking, the bitterness became less.
What can I tell you? The smell of cucumber cannot be completely interrupted by anything - donkey ears stick out. I wonder what those who don't know what it will say! In principle, the taste is specific. I haven't tasted it yet. But if someone needs to dispose of huge cucumbers and there are extra lemons, as well as a carriage time, you can try. I will wait for my husband's arrival. I'll give him. If I don't eat it myself.

Galya, GREAT !!! There is the first experience of dried cucumbers! Both salty and sweet!

This product is not for everybody, of course - but we already know that you can dry cucumbers in this way!

And it would be nice to have another photo in the studio for review, while they are still intact

Here, to your description https://Mcooker-enn.tomathouse.com/index.php@option=com_smf&topic=295561.0 and preferably with a recipe, what and how much - until the husband arrives and drags the cucumbers to a corner, there is an opportunity to contemplate

Recipe:
1 kg of creepy, large cucumbers,
500 g sugar
1 lemon.
First photo: take 1 kg of cucumbers. Check your butts if they are bitter, do not repeat my mistakes. And in general, I think they need to be cleaned, because the skin is not very comme il faut. Cut off the skin of the lemon (no, well, of course mine, what a question!), Cut it with candied fruit. We measure out 500 g of sugar. We take 200 g of them and mix everything with cucumbers and candied fruits. It costs about 4 hours. We water it periodically - with the released liquid.
Dried cucumbers, dried (salted and sweet)

Put the cucumbers in a colander. Let it drain. We put the whole lemon, without the white thick skin, under a blender. Pitted, of course. Drain the liquid from under the cucumbers into the pan, add the remaining sugar and lemon. All this must be boiled under the lid. Add candied cucumbers. Close the lid. We follow! Cook until transparent. If the free time has come to an end, then we leave it until tomorrow. Moreover, if some of the cucumbers have already become transparent, then just cooking is enough. If there is still gunpowder in the flasks - again in a colander, and wait until it cools down. And in the second case, you can already boil all the cucumbers until transparent.
Second photo.
We put it on the dryer.
Dried cucumbers, dried (salted and sweet)

Photo third. I dried the whole thing for 6 hours. It turned out not very hard. If you need to make them more rubberized, you can take longer.
These squiggles only smell like cucumbers in a jar (if you stick your nose). Each piece separately - very strange taste and quite edible. Now you can leave the cottage before the weekend and wait for new catches of cucumbers, now their overgrown bodies will not cause negative emotions - there is something to do with them!

My husband also had an idea (to kill the cucumber smell) - add cinnamon. There are no lemons in the local shop, so I'm waiting for my husband to come. Cucumbers are slowly melting. Although I removed them, it seems to me very reliable. Maybe shrinkage, shrinkage?

Yeah, belly fat

An interesting way, I can't even imagine the taste - you need to decide and try to cook
Astrologina
Cucumbers had to be made more than once over the summer. I can say that cinnamon turned out to be very useful here - it repels the smell of cucumbers. Cranberries also go well with such cucumbers - during the cooking process, add cranberries, previously milled in a blender. And the skin - down with the skin!
Zvezda askony
It took a long time. Maybe someone knows
Dried cucumbers - how is it ?!
Admin
Why wait so long for an answer?
Take 2-3 fresh cucumbers, shred them with 1 cm wheels and dry them in a dryer - and then taste or cook something of them, throw them in a stew, to stew meat, you can even cook compote, and so on .. . Then it will become clear "I need it"? We all have different tastes

Girls, not really in the subject, but has anyone tried freezing sliced cucumbers? How are they after defrosting?
And it also seems to me that you can make marshmallows from cucumbers in the likeness of zucchini, having previously seasoned the cucumbers with your favorite additives.
And another question: did anyone cook jam from cucumbers? Does the specific cucumber spirit remain?
Admin
I often freeze fresh cucumbers, then let them in for express pickling with other vegetables, or add provencal to cabbage.
I cut into strollers 1.5-2 cm each into a bag and into a freezer. Stored well!

Inapplicable condition - DO NOT DEFROST !!! Otherwise porridge and water will flow and become.

Here, here you can see cucumbers after the freezer in a salad https://Mcooker-enn.tomathouse.com/index.php@option=com_smf&topic=3356.0

I tried to dry the cucumbers, just without any spices. I thought I'd restore it in winter and add it to salads. But, as for me, they are completely unsuitable for this. It turned out to be something sweetish and rubbery. Dried for 8-9 hours.

Here's the result:
