Cooking method

  • When it's cold and uncomfortable, we love making this pie and we recommend it to you.
  • Recipe from Good Old England, Cocchi Licky Scottish Christmas Pie
  • Kokki Likki is very popular in Scotland. It is prepared for New Year's holidays and especially for Christmas. The main ingredients of this pie are Kokki chicken and Likki leek. Very satisfying, meaty, hot pie.
  • Delicate, creamy, creamy sauce and puff pastry. Leeks are very delicate here; only very ardent opponents of all types of onions may not like it.
  • 1. Peel and chop the garlic with a knife. Rinse the leek thoroughly, dry and cut into thin rings (only the white part). Wash the chicken fillet, cut into small pieces. Melt the butter in a frying pan, add the garlic and cook over low heat for 1 minute. (I don't like garlic, so I take it out, the smell remains). Add flour, mix thoroughly.
  • 2. Remove the pan from the heat and, stirring constantly, pour in the milk in a thin stream. Stir, kneading the lumps, until a homogeneous mass is obtained. Return the pan to low heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens, 3-4 minutes.
  • 3. Add chicken pieces to the sauce, pour in the cream. Season with salt, pepper, mix. Cook over low heat for 15 minutes, covered with a lid.
  • 4. Add the leek, mix thoroughly and immediately remove from heat. Transfer the resulting mixture to a baking dish, try to see if there is any salt. (take the form not detachable, the one in which you will serve the cake on the table). Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface into a thin layer, then cut into strips 2.5 cm wide. You do not need to fill it to the brim, since the sauce will boil.
  • 5. Preheat the oven to 180 ° C. Place the dough strips on the mold so that they overlap slightly. Cut off the hanging ends of the strips. Brush with whipped yolk. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 40 minutes. Serve hot.

Natasha, try it, you won't regret it! It's a pity that you don't have winter there. In fact, the cake is very wintery. Associations: walks, sun, sparkling snow, sledges, skis and the crazy aroma of a hearty tasty cake that meets at home!
