Dried rosehip

Ingredients

rose hips

Cooking method

  • Electric dryer Ezidri Snackmaker FD500
  • High mode (high) 60 ° C.
  • Medium mode (average) 50-55 * С
  • We sort out the berries, cut off the tails.
  • I do not wash the berries in order to avoid contact with water, since the dog rose quickly absorbs water and dries poorly afterwards.
  • We put the rose hips on pallets, put them on the dryer, set the mode and temperature to High (high) 60 ° С.
  • Rosehip dries for a long time and unevenly! Withstood for about 10 hours, then took a break until it cooled down, then dried it for another night!
  • It dried up, but I had to sort it out, because I still came across very soft berries, which I set aside. I put it to dry with other fruits.
  • The result is such a dried rosehip! There will be something to eat in the winter!
  • Dried rosehip

Note

I already use my rosehip. I pour boiling water over it, let it stand for a couple of minutes, wash it, drain the water and then put the drink on it. I pour boiling water in a thermos and insist.

Cook with pleasure and bon appetit! Dried rosehip

ROSE - the fruits of the wild-growing shrub of the same name 0.5-3 m high with stems and branches with thorns (hence the name), complex, pinnate leaves (consisting of ellipsoidal or ovate sharp-serrated leaves) and single fragrant flowers of pink, white, dark red color with numerous stamens. The many-nuts are enclosed in overgrown fleshy juicy berry-shaped (spherical, spherical-oblong, elliptical, ovoid-oblong) receptacles of orange, bright red, orange-red color, sweet and sour in taste.

Rosehip is common in the Northern Hemisphere. Grows in the undergrowth of light forests, on forest edges, in bushes. Contains up to 21% sugars, 3.7% pectin substances, up to 4.5% tannins, 2% organic acids, mineral salts: 5 mg% sodium, 23 mg% potassium, 26 mg% calcium, 8 mg% magnesium. In terms of its vitamin composition, only actinidia and black currant can compete with it, it contains up to 1100 mg% vitamin C, 2.6 mg% carotene, B vitamins, vitamins E, K, flavonoids.

Rosehip, previously cleared of seeds, is eaten fresh and canned; jam, syrups, vitamin concentrates, jam, marmalade, liqueurs are prepared from it. At home, it can be dried (in dried rose hips, the content of vitamins increases 2-3 times), and then in the winter-spring period, brew as vitamin tea: 20 g of crushed rose hips per 1 glass of boiling water, leave for 10-12 hours in a thermos; 1-2 glasses a day is enough for an adult, 1 glass for children.

Rosehip ripens in August-September, it is harvested before the onset of the first frost, as frost and subsequent thaws destroy vitamin C. Collect brightly colored, hard rosehip together with sepals, which protect it from damage. Rosehip is widely used as a raw material for obtaining vitamin C. Rosehip preparations are used in the form of powders, dragees, infusions, and extracts.

I want to reach out and take a berry from the screen

Yes, everything is better than a dark cherry, there is a color well, you can't catch it

Natasha, to your health! Especially in winter and spring

Yesterday we were at the dacha brought 0.5 kg. rose hips and 1.6 kg. hawthorn. I loaded my assistant, buzzes :-). Hawthorn is dry land for the second time. The first time it dried for 9 hours, it turned out great, but I think that the rose hips will dry longer. I even put it at the very bottom - there the temperature is higher

Rosehip takes a long time to dry, you are right!

If you only prick its thick rind with a sharp comb
melrin
So it still needs to be pricked? And I've already had it for 3 hours to dry. Is it too late to heat it up?
Admin
And here I prick with such a comb (for slicing onions)

Dried rosehip

I spread the berries, and on them with a comb - everything and immediately prick

But the rose hips dried without tattoos, of course it takes a long time to dry!

This is what I got a hawthorn and rosehip

Bravo!

One problem - it dries for a long time
melrin
Yes, more than 10 hours

By the way, I forgot to report:
the yield is obtained from 1.6 kg. hawthorn - 600 gr., rosehip 0.5 kg - 0.3 kg.

And here is my rosehip in the process of drying. And it didn't seem to me that long. Everything is relative ... Last year I dried it in specially sewn bags on a battery ... I dried it for a week - that's a long time)))

I also suffered with drying the rose hips - it was too long. And for piercing I used just such a thing for meat
Dried rosehip
Very convenient and fast. And the rose hips began to dry much faster.

Tanyusha, well done, I guessed
Just a question: does the plate at the bottom do not interfere, does it press the berries strongly?
Orshanochka
Tatyana does not press a single gram. Very convenient. I processed three pallets of rose hips in 10 minutes. True, the berries were laid on a cutting board and bam-bang - and it's done
Vasyutka
And I was drying in the bathroom on a heated floor. She covered the old sheet with rose hips. The dryer was busy.

Good day! tell me, please, this year I dried rose hips for addition to herbal teas, but there is no taste! Purchased berries (and sell "dog" rose hips, low-vitamin) give a characteristic taste and syrup of rose hips from the pharmacy to taste with nothing can be confused with anything, but my harvest ... alas. In a thermos for brewing, I put 2-3 tablespoons of ground berries, a few spoons of Ivan's tea, I hope for the great benefits of Siberian berries. I collected them in early September, before frost, red, dense and shiny, dried them in Isidri, but disappointed.

And what are your complaints directly to the Isidri dryer? Is the dog rose poorly dried?
Judging by the photo, the berries have dried well.

And the taste of dried berries depends on what quality they were fresh. What kind of berries, who picked where and where, where they grew, and so on ...

Dried rosehip
Try not to grind the berries, brew whole.
I once bought a rosehip in bags at the pharmacy, it's ground there, no taste, some kind of paper. And the usual pharmacy with whole berries gives a normal taste.
