Herring in Ponta's basket it all

Ingredients

Salted herring 200 g
Dry red wine 50 ml
table vinegar 1 tsp
ground black pepper
sugar 1 tbsp. the spoon
vegetable oil 3 tbsp. spoons
bulb onions 2 pcs
dill, parsley, cilantro (chopped) 1 tbsp. the spoon
potatoes 4 things
egg 1 PC
potato starch 1 tbsp. the spoon
dried dill 1 tbsp. the spoon
ground nutmeg 1 tsp
salt
fresh / frozen cranberries

Cooking method

  • Herring in a basket
  • We clean the salted herring from bones, skins, cut into fillets. Cut the herring into pieces. Peel the onion, cut into rings. We prepare a marinade from wine, vinegar, sugar, pepper, vegetable oil, chopped herbs.
  • Fill herring and onion with marinade. Next, we proceed to the preparation of potato baskets in which we will serve our herring. We count on one large potato per basket. Rub the peeled potatoes on a grater (like Korean carrots). Put an egg, starch, nutmeg, dry dill, salt in grated potatoes. Mix thoroughly.
  • We lubricate the molds well with oil, although they are silicone, it is better to play it safe. And we spread the potato mass, forming the bottom and sides from it. We put the molds in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 30 minutes. Put the pickled herring in cooled baskets, sprinkle with cranberries on top.

In fact, I opened a topic where I will add recipes that did not meet expectations. Why, well, why bake and cool the potatoes, and even in such a sophisticated way, I mean the baking form? As a result, cold, practically fried potatoes with quite tasty herring. Isn't it easier, and as a result, tastier: hot fried potatoes and a separate herring?
This recipe was sent by mailing list. So I wanted to do it. I did ... but something is not right for my taste.

Precisely, just harmoniously and combinable. But here's the potatoes ..... something is not right. It does not resemble baked, rather fried, but without fat and cold. That's what I didn't like. And nutmeg gives a pleasant shade. I tried it when the baskets were hot, I liked it. Serving the baskets hot is almost impossible. Until you take it out of the mold, until you arrange everything ... And putting the herring in hot potatoes is also not the case, you have to wait until it cools down.
That's why I wrote "Ponty all this". In life, it is much more beautiful than in the photo. And the taste was different

Tatyana, at one time I specially boiled potatoes, carrots ... cut them into cubes, put them in a herring pot with a slide, on this slide cut and cut herring fillets ... put a green onion on the side ... watered them with oil ...everything seemed to be normal, but the taste of everything was interesting ...
